If KDice were to change in one way in June. What should that be?

at 3:08 AM, Sunday June 8, 2014 EDT I strongly support BOTH of Thrillho's suggestions to keep the timer running and to give a cooldown to people for standing up from a table.
Maybe reset the timer to 10 seconds if a player sits as 6th with the timer below 10 seconds so a 7th player would get at least 10 secs to notice and sit |

at 7:35 PM, Sunday June 8, 2014 EDT Another suggestion - remove spectator chat once a game has started. It encourages trolling and detracts from game play. People can sit on the sidelines and try to "coach" level 60 players, which basically means trying to influence the game to kill people they don't like, without actually risking their own points. It is also annoying when 6 random people come and treat the game like an IRC channel, which happens a lot at the 2k and 5k tables. All these old time friends don't actually want to play, they want to chat.
Sure - I can mute people, but unless everyone at the table mutes the spectators it doesn't solve the problems. The people who don't like this idea are the people who want to troll and chat. I'm not sure what valid reason there is for spectator chat during games, other than at noob coaching tables. This isn't a chat room, it's a game if I'm not mistaken. It might also help people who think there is too much OTF / PGA action at the higher tables. Once people are out they can't influence the game. |

at 7:51 PM, Sunday June 8, 2014 EDT my favourite thing is chatboxing games.
I agree it sucks though, but it's fun as heck to change outcome just through chat, and, imo, is what makes kdice fantastic. haha |

at 8:02 PM, Sunday June 8, 2014 EDT It's what ruins kdice imo. If you want to influence games, SIT IN. I assume we are suggesting things to build the player base. Encouraging trolling and ways to irritate people does not work towards that goal. It drives people away.

at 8:25 PM, Sunday June 8, 2014 EDT Ryan himself once subtracted points from me because he was upset at how my grey-chat affected the outcome of a game I wasn't in. Was the last game of the month, and if the other dude won the game, he would've gotten gold. I chat pwned the table, dude ended up losing points, I got gold, Ryan magically appeared and said "I don't think so monte", and credited the dude 2500 pts or something, enough to grant him 1st.
This also happened with Pat and Chris0123. However, when nodice did the exact same thing to screw me out if gold a couple years later, Ryan didn't care any more. I used to be bitter, now I just like to hear myself wax poetic. Anyways, sure, keep the trolling out of the chat box, but leave that up to the mods. Keep the chat allowable, because, as Ryan has stated dozens of times over the years, kdice is both a war game and a social game. If there is no chatbox for treys, you destroy most of the social aspect. |
