Republicans are a self fulfilling prophecy. They campaign on how bad big government is and when they get elected they prove it.

As someone who has professionally tutored, I have to say there are definitely good test takers and bad test takers. Certainly most points are earned when one knows the material, but test taking strategies are effective. They can be the difference between a 4 and a 5, or (more likely) a 2 and a 3. I've seen students who are approximately as knowledgeable score 20 points apart on an exam because they don't know how to eliminate less-than-obviously incorrect answer choices.

BO: "I love how deadcode tries to discredit how much an AP is actually worth. The fact that Harvard or any top tier university will give you credit for 5s on an AP test should be enough to demonstrate their difficulty. "

Dude... you don't go to Harvard or any other top tier university. You go to Indiana.

And the only thing I'm discrediting is you. You claim near omnipotence in almost every subject you talk about (even when arguing with PHDs and professors). Yet you are an undergrad in college; where you pay 10s of thousands of dollars to be educated by the exact people you refuse to listen to. Meanwhile your self-proclaimed success in understand of history is based upon a test you took in high school.

And let's not even get started on the odd behavior you display, bordering on obsession, where you need to link almost every topic on this forum to a theme of Democrat vs Republican.

I understand you are going through your angst years; but believe me it will end at some point and you'll look back and say WTF.

also what the fuck are you talking about, how do you know how I behave around my professors and people with doctorates? you don't have a phd mothafucker. even if you did, that doesn't prove shit as far as your credibility is concerned in topics other than what you doctored in. if i seem like i think i know everything about a topic maybe it's because i actually did the research (cursory googling and prior discussion of the topic) and know what i'm talking about. maybe it has something to do with those blue links i keep posting, maybe i actually remember/learned stuff in school. i went to private school most of my life so it's possible i learned a variety of things through osmosis.

but you know what, i wouldn't take my word either. which is why i actually post sources of what the fuck i am referring to as opposed to harp on or ad hominem the shit out of someone that disagrees with me.

Last bit, you know why I agree with Mike Rowe in that we need less of an emphasis on college and more on its alternatives? My junior year in high school, besides reading a modest proposal and knives instead of guns I also read a good essay from the 70s about why not everyone should go to college. Name of the work escapes me but it was well known enough for my english teacher to assign it. it was pretty good and i was reminded of it when i heard about mike rowe's testimony to congress on the matter.

also for someone who never cites their sources you seem to condescend and assert a lot don't ya

nice rant against BO, dead. entertaining.

i got into #7a with a half-ride and my parents were like wtf you arent going there, youll come out with like $80k debt. and i hated them for it. but i agreed with them afterwards, totally woulda failed out because my work ethics wouldnt have been good enough to stay afloat there.

also got waitlisted to #1, and got a letter in the mail sophomore year from them saying CONGRATULATIONS you are off the wait list and can now transfer over. lol, right.

ended up going to a school that insists on comparing themselves to ivy league schools at best and duke at worst, and refuses to be included in the larger usnews lists, but only in the liberal arts college list, where they are #32. main reason i went = full academic scholarship, and my parents promised they would give me whatever they had saved up for college if i accepted a full ride. $12k BOOM!
