Republicans are a self fulfilling prophecy. They campaign on how bad big government is and when they get elected they prove it.

at 9:53 AM, Thursday May 19, 2011 EDT Didn't see that last post Monte but I think I agree (I'm a bit removed from the poker thing though). The solution to the inefficiency is to make the government more transparent not cut services and keep the inefficiency

at 9:57 AM, Thursday May 19, 2011 EDT forget milk in a bag, what about why theres corn in fucking everything. high fructose syrup? wtf is that? well, pay the right people enough money, and the fda will approve it without sufficient testing. ethanol in gasoline? wtf is that? well, pay the right people enough money, and now all gas must have 10% ethanol in it, fuck if it costs more or doesnt affect efficiency that much.
i mean, fuck, i had to take my lawnmower in to be fixed, and the fixit guy was like, yup, this mower was built in 2005 before we realized what 10% ethanol does to all the pieces of the engine. ethanol kills lawnmower engine parts. id tell you to find gas without ethanol, but that shit is hard to find and expensive. youd be better off buying a newer mower which was designed to withstand ethanol. fuckin corn. i like to eat it, but not drink it or drive on it. |

at 10:08 AM, Thursday May 19, 2011 EDT Yup corn syrup was actually one of the things I had in mind. I'm reminded of that scene from The Informant! where Matt Damon is talking about how everything is made of corn.
Coincidentally the movie's plot is somewhat appropriate for what Bernay was talking about. |

at 12:02 PM, Thursday May 19, 2011 EDT i think the only way to really fix the industrialization of food products is to heavily regulate how you can manipulate food stuffs. otherwise you'll be able to pay the fda into letting through whatever you want (like you can now)
