Just caught up on this one, brilliant retort a few pages back thrax. My sentiments exactly. Sure Bertrand Russel will even say to philosophically assert atheism is a fallacy. But at the same time for all intents and purpose you can't call me a anti-gravitationalist because I don't know if gravity is real or not. I'm pretty sure there's gravity and I believe it as a consequence, in much the same way I am atheist. Change my mind, show me studies that prove the efficacy of prayer, show me how GOD isn't a logical contradiction in a variety of ways. I'll change my mind then.

But I am not weak willed enough to suggest I am an agnostic either. I am very much a strong atheist in the connotative form. I don't profess I can't prove there's no gods, nor should I. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. That being said, I do assert there is as of yet nothing to prove or suggest the existence of a god. Our own ignorance of the natural world doesn't count. If it did then you'd believe in a god of gaps that simply fills in what science hasn't yet learned.

If you are religious I suggest you put things in perspective and read some of Carl Sagan's books.
