Hey guys, some of you might remember rifty's Euro 2008 competition and how fun it was so I thought I'd do one for the World Cup, if people are interested. All credit goes to rifty for making up the idea. The concept is simple, you guess the results of each game in the world cup and people compete to get first on the leaderboard and to get as many correct predictions as possible.
The points work out as, 5 for a correct result, 10 for the correct score. The second round and quarter final games will be worth 7 and 14, the semis will be 8 and 16 and the final 10 and 20. All you have to do to is post your predictions. The fixtures in the next three days are as follows: June 11th: South Africa v Mexico Uruguay v France June 12th: South Korea v Greece Argentina v Nigeria England v U.S.A June 13th: Algeria v Slovenia Serbia v Ghana Germany v Australia Have fun playing :) |

at 11:10 AM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Dot it as u want, but I keep thinking a simple rule is the best. Better and more equitable than a complicated scoring system to take account of penalties. If only u're able to find one. And anyway I'll just quit in that case for my part.

at 3:14 PM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT i'm thinking maybe i should increase the amount of points for the correct score, and give people the option of picking a score like 1-1, 2-1 (aet) 1-1 (team win on penalties) etc. that would mean its harder to get a correct score but the reward is higher. what do people think?

at 3:36 PM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT final result includes additional time, if u want u can add some points extra (very few) to the ones who also guesses the penalty score:
these r my predictions now (penalties between ()): Uruguay 1 v 0 South Korea USA 1 v 2 Ghana Germany 1 (5) v 1 (3) Engand Argentina 2 v 1 México Holland 2 v 1 Slovakia Brasil 2 v 1 Chile Paraguay 2 v 1 Japón Spain 1 v 0 Portugal |

at 8:03 PM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Prediction Round Knock Out Competition
June 26th: Uruguay v South Korea USA v Ghana June 27th Germany v Engand Argentina v México June 28th Holland v Slovakia Brasil v Chile June 29th Paraguay v Japan Spain v Portugal Ok how this works is it is 7 for the correct result and 21 for the correct score, but in getting the correct score you have to pick either a score in normal time, a score in extra time, or a game decided by penalties so it will be difficult to get that massive point bonus. Btw AMO you need to define whether the result is at the end of extra time or at the end of normal time thanks. |
