Hey guys, some of you might remember rifty's Euro 2008 competition and how fun it was so I thought I'd do one for the World Cup, if people are interested. All credit goes to rifty for making up the idea. The concept is simple, you guess the results of each game in the world cup and people compete to get first on the leaderboard and to get as many correct predictions as possible.
The points work out as, 5 for a correct result, 10 for the correct score. The second round and quarter final games will be worth 7 and 14, the semis will be 8 and 16 and the final 10 and 20. All you have to do to is post your predictions. The fixtures in the next three days are as follows: June 11th: South Africa v Mexico Uruguay v France June 12th: South Korea v Greece Argentina v Nigeria England v U.S.A June 13th: Algeria v Slovenia Serbia v Ghana Germany v Australia Have fun playing :) |

I dont undertsnad your problem there ? Keep it simple ! The only question we must take account of is the final score, of course not the score after 90 min or i dont know what else funny. So the only difference with the first round now is that ties are not possible. That's all. what's the problem ?! Keep it simple plz. Or I give up playing as far as I'm concerned. Final score only plz ! |

But if you guess a draw and predict the right winner, there should be a bonus involved. Only 90 minutes would of course be simplest solution, but I just think it would be fun to have the extra excitement of extra time involved in predictions.. Just a suggestion though :)

at 2:43 AM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Ties are possible only during the first round. After that each match lost gets you out. That's the rule in football (soccer). Simple, clear. what's the problem ?
Final score is the ultimate score and the only one which counts, the rest has no importance at all. Penalties are of course a part of the game, all loyal and fair. What the fuck is the debate here ?! I dont even understand what's your problem with it. |

at 2:47 AM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Well this is a competion about prediction, where you guess scores, not only outcomes of the match, so its more complicated than what you lay it out to be.. We arent just guessing who wins each match.

Very final score and only final score. Why do u want it more complex ? |

North Korea v Ivory Coast 2-1 Portugal v Brazil 1-2 Chile v Spain 2-1 Switzerland v Honduras 2-1 My proposal for the knockout round is simple. 7 points (later 8 and 10) for guessing who advances and the other 7 points for the correct score. Instead of putting down a score you may also predict a penalty shoot-out. screw overtime. |

at 8:32 AM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT Beautiful idea Charles, so ur gonna predict a win 6:5 by penalties? yeah right!
Penalties are not an integral part of the game, just a way to determine the winner.. A goal scored from a penalty shootout does not count in the competition for the best scorer of the Cup.. 90 minutes and lets say, what marius says, a point, one or two points, not more imo, more or less whether u guess who goes to the next round or not.. |

at 9:28 AM, Friday June 25, 2010 EDT but in the end of actual soccer, how do they record the score of the game, they would say "draw score of team A - score of team B (pks made - pks made)
I think you can only award for the 90 minutes and if you predicted the actual score that's awesome |
