at 6:49 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST Also whether or not they are funded by the church is immaterial. I think any organization (religious or not) should be politically active with the end sight of reflecting their interests (ethical fiscal or whatever) in law.
This is not to say that I would support any interest though. |

at 6:57 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST Yeah, I think the church is for it, unless it has abortion and euthanasia benefits. The issue lies in public versus private insurance plans, I believe. Over 90% of private insurance plans currently cover abortions but the church does not support using public funds to subsidize the cost of abortions.

at 7:10 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST I'm Roman Catholic, though I don't much like the church at school so I haven't been going to mass as often as I should here.

at 7:23 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST i also have a pretty good catholic resume.
baptized, first communion, confirmed. didn't miss a sunday service or holy day of obligation in 18 years. attended jesuit university. took many catholic classes in college including "old testament" "matthew mark luke and john" and "christian marriage." also took "Buddhism" in college but it was trippy taking that from a catholic priest. then again, taking "christian marriage" from a catholic priest was trippy too. |

at 7:57 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST Our Newman center kinda sucks, but there's a parish nearby I can go to also, which is a little bit more traditional, which I like. There aren't a whole lot of churches in this area that have Sunday evening masses though, so I don't go as much as I should. I'll probably start going to Saturday evening masses more often soon.

at 9:03 PM, Monday March 1, 2010 EST University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are a remarkable amount of Catholic churches in the area, but the bus is incredibly inconsistent on the weekends & I don't have a car.
