at 10:25 AM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST I don't like conversations about infinity anymore than I like conversations about God. Neither of them are provable since noone has seen God and noone has experienced infinity.
The Big Bang Theory rests on the laurels that the universe is ever expanding and scientists have attempted to track the rate of expansion by looking at the movement of the galaxies. These theories are flawed, as is the time frame, simply because we haven't been able to see "the end of the universe" yet. Every time we increase our ability to see further and further we do exactly that.........we see further and further. The further we look the further back in time that glimpse goes (speed of light and such). Since scientists can't see the end of the universe or know its level of finiteness there is no way to know an age of the universe or speculate as to it's origins. Interesting concept though. |

at 11:19 AM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST Das in the Catholic church baptism is one of the holy sacraments. The Catholic church will recognize the baptism of most other Christian churches, as long as the baptism is done in the name of the holy triunion. The Catholic sacrament of confirmation combined with the sacrament of baptism will roughly equate to the baptism of any other church (most churches dont baptize till an older age).

at 11:48 AM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST while reading up a bit on the big bang theory, i came to the conclusion that i should have paid more attention in particle physics.
i also found this awesome show called "the big bang theory". |

at 12:12 PM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST and true monte. "lonely" was an unfair adjective for me to use there. i retract it.
still, the question bears repeating.... "What was God the god of, before he created anything?" would he still be God had he created nothing? |

at 12:20 PM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST i would guess he would still be, sorta like how he defined himself as "I am".
but whereas i believe he is infinite, the bible seems to put a limit on time, by using the word "beginning" in genesis 1:1. i dunno. |

at 12:30 PM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST well it doesnt have to be the ultimate beginning. you can interpret it as the beginning of this universe (teh big bang).

at 12:40 PM, Friday March 5, 2010 EST ya, true.
i remember there was an interesting theory proposed by some MIT professor who was also a christian... and he correlated the big bang with creation in a relative-to-the-speed-of-light fashion, and found some .... intriguing results. something like how dinosaur fossil records fell into place with day 5 of creation (werent animals day 5? i forget). and how lifetimes around adam->noah's time would be around 700 years long. was a really interesting theory, which both creationists and evolutionists agreed was completely loony. |
