mod nomination

there's a lot of talk about this site needing extra moderation, so i figured that the best way to figure out who is going to be the next mod would be to democratically elect one. in my opinion, a mod should be someone who can...

-be able to identify PGA
-know how the higher table politics go
-have sufficient knowledge of the game
-be able to look at cases objectively
-not be afraid to ban people (with sufficient evidence)
-be rational (dont ban someone for kicking you out of a tourney)
-should not be involved in the monthly competition

Kdice has many quality candidates i'll just throw a couple out there, MadHat_Sam, montecarlo, dasfury, kam, and im sure there are tons of others.

VOTE OR DIE

"Only way to become a moderator is to be approved by 3 other moderators."

How fucked up is that? u cant even find an advisor when you need it,and u are asking us to be friends with ghosts?HOW?!?
Here is an idea, forget about the "contributor" thing, name it a "regular" or something and give the decision to these people whether someone should be a mod or not OR who should be a mod...Ohh and dont give these ppl the ability to demod mods, cause i guarantee you that you'll get your ass demoded for being a clown

I agree with all of fcuku's criteria for how mods should operate and what qualifications they should have. I also support the idea that all mods must be anonymous. Other sites restrict their mods from divulging their in-game identities and police the actions of the mods in order to ensure objective, justified performance of the job description. In the past, we have seen certain mods take action based not on what was objectively justified, but rather on their own self-interest. Even Ryan fell prey to that problem, when he banned Murti following a tournament in which Murti killed him.

Perhaps these rules should be instituted:

A mod account should not be able to play at all.

Any player that divulges that he controls a mod account should have his status immediately revoked.

Any player that somehow discovers the identity of the holder of a mod account and then disseminates that information should be banned.

Mod actions should be regularly reviewed and analyzed by Ryan and/or a panel of other mods and mods found to be acting without justification or in a partisan fashion should be stripped of their powers and their player account(s) banned.

Just my 2 cents and I am sure that a lot of you will strongly disagree.

He can't be worse than you, Fiero.

I am pretty sure that's theoretically impossible.

I really appreciate all the votes folks, seriously. Especially considering my taking a good chunk of time off from actually playing games.

I have starting playing quite a bit again as of the end of last month, and I never stopped following the action here. That being said, I think it unlikely that Ryan would agree to make me a mod even if a large cross-section of the site thinks it would be a good idea.

It would be good to have someone else around. Other than thrax, it seems very tough to find a mod during the day.
