Most of the old players who used to play the top level tables have left. the player culture has changed, leaving a void which was filled by inexperienced, culture-less noobs that make kdice now unbearable. It has mostly turned into vflag-fests and mindless flame wars. this post is not about tournaments.
To the old players: why are you still here? To the new guys: what is enjoyable at the style of game you play? |

at 6:17 PM, Wednesday August 12, 2009 EDT I agree the game is a mess now, but, sometimes, you can get lucky and play with good players, I doN,t know if I'm an old player, but what I know is that the players ruin this game, without early truces/flags, ninja flags, PGAs, PGEs, dicks trying to be cool and kill you for the fun of it or even noobs making random moves, the game would, in my opinion be way better.

at 9:10 PM, Saturday January 1, 2011 EST jona you were banned for account sharing and pga'ing, nothing to do with trucing. People keep telling me to go easy on you because you are 16, but mate seriously you just dont get it.
You're not a bad guy at heart, a lot of people including myself do like you but you are not going to get true respect until you put your hand up and say "ok i cheated, i'm sorry, lets move on" and i am sure a lot of people would be happy to let you. It would win you a lot of respect, at the moment the dribble you are pushing as excuses is doing your creditability zero. |

at 9:38 PM, Monday January 3, 2011 EST My position has always been there should be no chat once the game has started.
Should I have to read about who wanted what or declared something? Nope. If it's my turn to go or "roll off" (I really though that was some kind of politically correct curse), eliminate me. Personally I make an effort to just remain polite and easy going. I kind of wish everyone would, but since that's not posible I'd prefer there were no chat. Unfortunately if I ignore the chat, like on a 600px high netbook, people get very angry; also they make deals that don't include me. |

at 8:12 AM, Tuesday January 4, 2011 EST i think Verms won this thread with his mini-hijack:
"I am here because I enjoy the game." And that's the bottom line. This is a good game that is run poorly. Compare it to www.conquerclub.com which is superior to this site in every way EXCEPT that (in my opinion) the actual game itself is better here. (in that it is faster and more social here, although the speed games there alleviate most of that.) They have: - far less cheating and bickering - an active, real, forum (even Ryan mocked his own forum in his post) - a standard ELO scoring system - a real user rating/feedback system that is actually effective - awards, badges, recognition - ability for users to design and submit their own maps via xml - team play option - fog of war option - lots of other game options - clearly defined rules and guidelines - way more people/traffic - easy public/private tournament configuration - a thriving user community who is actually allowed to participate in the future of the site. Just check out their forum. It dwarfs this one. Yet...the game itself here is better, so I play at both sites. Imagine if this site were actually run like that one. Ryan would rake in the dough! And now that I've typed all this, I've realized I have no idea why. We can't even get the line of code that does previous/next copied so that they're at the bottom of the forum pages. Yet, I don't want to delete all this either. So, take my ramble for what it's worth, which is open to debate. |
