Kdice has changed - for the worse

Most of the old players who used to play the top level tables have left. the player culture has changed, leaving a void which was filled by inexperienced, culture-less noobs that make kdice now unbearable. It has mostly turned into vflag-fests and mindless flame wars. this post is not about tournaments.
To the old players: why are you still here? To the new guys: what is enjoyable at the style of game you play? |

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/6198/11667219.png I offered green 2nd place in round 2. Was that lame? I ended up getting 1st and he ended up getting 2nd, even though though all countered. What I thought was lame that nobody joined our truce for 3rd, they'd rather join the counter. |

1) It's round 3.....not round 1 or 2 2) He didn't "offer" his flag, you offered to give him 2nd if he flagged 3) The others didn't fall in line and battle for 3rd, they actually countered. This doesn't happen very often anymore That would have been an enjoyable game. Had that picture shown round 2 and green said "I flag, kill the others", then it would have been lame. In all honesty, if I were green I would have offered you a truce and said we'd fight for 1st after the others were dead, but what do I know... |

at 3:07 PM, Tuesday March 10, 2009 EDT My point is green was nowhere near 'deserving' 2nd, if deserve should mean most powerful. But I care not on who 'deserves' a place, I play to maximize my position, below me (or above) I couldn't care less on who gets what.
1) It was in fact round 2 that I offered it. 2) What would have been lame about him proposing the truce instead of me? It happened and the outcome was the same. |

There are less tables going and less players playing then there used to be. The styles haven't changed as much as people think, but people don't play to win so that sucks. |

at 6:04 PM, Tuesday March 10, 2009 EDT stormlord, your situation demanded a solution because green could have destroyed you. so giving him 2nd seems fair. but you say you didnt like that the other players didnt flag third right away. and i think youre missing the point of the game here:
the fun in this game are battles, where odds are weighed out and it comes down to risky expansions and out off the blue 7v7s for a quick takedown. What you consider "lame" is that these guys wanted to actually play the game cause they were looking for a shot at 1st, not mindlessly surrendering for a measly +50. this attitude is killing a lot of games. you should enjoy the game for its moments of awesome battles and not your point gain at the end of the day: if you take healthy risks the points will come by themselves. so please, everyone, stop vflagging and play the game! you might even have a little fun. |

at 6:18 PM, Tuesday March 10, 2009 EDT I like Sam's original words. I'm reposting them.
"Ryan, well I kinda doubt you will read let alone respond to this, your arrogance and hatred of a few people and styles have driven what was once a massively popular game into the ground. You are left with transient traffic and a small group of regulars the pretty much emulate and propegate all you hated about kdice. This is your fault, you wanted to kill the elite and instead you drove away those that cared and left those that just want points, the whores you despised you just didn't know you were hating the wrong people." By the way. http://www.kdice.com/#Cody doesn't exit anymore. |

I agree with thraxle, folks will immediately "vflag" for position against someone they think is a threat, no matter how early. They don't look at the overall board, they just look at their neighbors. And rolling off is the most asinine thing I've ever heard of. I am still here because of a few old folks I've managed to catch back up to, and a because I want to give this game a chance again. |
