at 3:41 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT Having a membership does make things quite a bit easier but it doesn't guarantee you anything.
I don't mind elitism with members. They deserve it for supporting this site. They're members and directly contribute to the future of this game. Cheaters are the ones frustrated with members starting at 2500 since its become more efficient than cheating to get points. Basically you can put yourself in one of several categories: 1) You're a member and love the game. 2) You're a player who loves the game but don't want to pay for membership. In this case you don't mind playing 0-2500 since it is fun to play. 3) You're a cheater that became a member, therefore you don't love the game and only contribute for extra points. This is risky since I can disable your account (ex. nightstalker) 4) You're pissed that members get extra points and dislike playing from 0-2500, therefore you don't like to play and just like the points. You probably liked the days before memberships when you could excel past people with few games by cheating. Is this you unlucky? Most people who play fit into category 2 (and most of these people don't read the forum). Category 3 and 4 are small but look bigger because they create lots of accounts instead of playing (right FEDE?) |

@PGA whiners - Dry it up. The game is both one about map and social strategy. No matter how much you piss and moan, it won't change shit. Maybe we need a new forum category because it's a bullshit forum when I log on and only see BitchTITs and SUCKABAG are PGA OMG!!1!!1! GET OVER IT. YOU HAD A SHIT A GAME. @Ryan - quit biting the hand that feeds you. That's just bad for business. I think we're all glad you have put so much in this game, but man you're really coming out harsh. As this game evolves so do the rules. There will always be people trying to grab as many points as they can, cause tidalwaves of drama and ultimately sell seats. It's like the tv show Flavor of Love on VH1 --the bottom of the barrel reality tv that has run for 3 seasons. Why? Because drama sells and just like that show, this game ain't shit without it. So buckle your seatbelt and enjoy the ride. @Elitism - So what? No matter what culture you look at there is a culture of elitism. This is a natural human instinct... survivial of the fittest. No matter how random you make the rolls or how many 4v2's lose, someone will figure out how to reduce their risk and therefore be more successful. It's not something to cry about.. it's a challenge you lazy dickholes. @et al Shhhhh, no more tears. |

If you convert the 0, 100, 500 wins to 2.5k, you have to convert the 0, 100, 500 losses to 2.5k. If you start at zero, you "draw" points if your score dips below zero. There is no draw to keep member's scores at 2500. So non-members have an advantage. |

at 3:49 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT Dude Ryan, WTF? I think you should read what im writing.
1st - i didnt insult you. You did it twice. 2nd - READ MY POSTS : "Maybe i'd have support kdice, but i dont like advantage games (when you get advantage for paying), because its much more fun to go through 0s and get ALL your points yourself" 3rd - I dont mind elitism, but i dont like when ppl who donate to you are being called cheaters (you didnt said just nightstalker or few more, but you said like all members are cheaters) 4th - I respect you and your game (which i love btw), but you serriously have problems managing the community. Its good that you have appointed mods/advisors to do that, but i think that you should appoint 1's with good reputation and whom are willing to make kdice better. Some of them are doing good job (grun, skrum,...) , but some of them arent (we all know who). I think you should appoint people like Vermont, Nuflis, Jurgen. I serriously dont understand why are you trying 2 insult me and treat me like a f***ing idiot when im trying to help |

at 3:59 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT if i may take this offtopic again, let me recap what happened in may:
first day(s): wish realizes that he can buy extra 2500 points for $5. mid month: batmandan (i think?) tests it again and sees that it is still possible. end month: dg and wish go on a kspending spree and get 1/2. now lets see where july is going: first day(s): leek pays another $5 for 2500. mid month: leek tests it again and sees that it is still possible. end month: well, call me paranoid (which i am), but my wild guess is that leek is slithering into the background, and waiting for 11:59pm of the 31st to get here. Ryan, you know how leek attacks this site. you know that when there is a loophole, his style is to abuse it, then post shit about it in forums after the abuse about how you suck at coding and maintaining the site and how you encourage cheating by not fixing stuff. i know you hate how leek does this to kdice. im just sayin, watch out for july 31. PARANOIA FTW! |

at 4:11 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT and guys, srsly, lay off ryan. im being serious. he responds well to logical thought-out humility. he NEVER responds well to "dont treat me like a fuckin idiot". never. if you want him to calm down (which we all agree is a good thing), then stop with the "you suck at managing" destructive criticism.
if you want him to listen to you (i.e. if youre grun or perhaps me), then be more vocal in the appreciation. if you play thousands of games on this site, and then criticize it so much in forums, just leave. play a lot, be thankful a lot. seriously, hes been catching too much flak on this thread. the last few months have gone reasonably smoothly, only 3 months this year were debatedly fucked up: monte/leek month, patwhalen month, and $$$ month. i dont care about january any more, chris didnt get pissy about patwhalen month, and bomb has run away. ok, that sounds bad. 3 fucked up months out of 6. compare that to last year. april, may, june, july, august, september... all fucked up (sorry poo, maybe not august). i think this shows that the game is getting cleaner. whether its cus people are tired of cheating, or because ryan has implemented a few changes (to gpokr scoring or RC stuff), i dont care. its fucking getting better. so fucking lay off of ryan. you fucking want to fucking ruin the site and ruin everyones fucking experience? heres the fucking way: 1) fucking condesend to ryan like he doesnt know shit. 2) fucking never say fucking thank you for a fucking game that you fucking play fucking thousands of fucking fucking times PER FUCKING MONTH SOMEFUCKINGTIMES. some of yall are starting to follow this formula perfectly. fucking. lay. off. ty ryan, good game. |

at 4:14 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT unlucky, forgive me if I make a mistake trying to interpret some of your incoherent posts spread over two accounts.
"you seriously have problems managing the community" I don't believe the community needs to be managed. I believe that idiots need to be managed. 95% of the people here don't need a thing. "you said like all members are cheaters" I've never said this. Are you just making an indirect attack at members because you don't like their elitism? "I dont mind elitism" Oh ok. "Ryan is calling all the people that pay him money "cheaters". He created that elite system by creating the memberships." Why do you keep repeating this? I've never said that... is this leekstep? And you don't mind elitism but you're criticizing memberships and the elitism they create. This is officially ridiculous and I don't think we need to go in any more circles on this topic. By the way BABYShampoo is XxDiceyGirlxX. And XxDiceyGirlxX cheaters are not the hand that feeds me. In fact very far from it. They actually indirectly steel from the KDice community by using up bandwidth and giving others a poorer experience. I'll be as harsh as I need to be to these people. |

Your tears stain me with boredom. Those months sell seats for the next. While I am a soap based product and typically support clean movements... those types of things do not translate into traffic. Sorry. I would bet that after June - the most boring month to date that traffic is even more in a slump. You could attribute this to the Summer months, but I would venture a guess that this is more a long term traffic trend and not a dip on the charts. If I remember last year, the game was hopping at this time. But you are right about one thing. Ryan does not get enough credit for all the work that he has done. It's a great game... you can tell because we passionately debate the finer points of everything. My suggestion would be to name a community figure to deal with social issues within the game. I think that we all have our strengths and for the game to succeed, this is one that we need to find within the community. Monte - please consider me your goto baby cleansing product when the baby is born. I'm an excellent bath time buddy. Shhhh, no more tears Monte's fetus. |

Playing the trump card against me so soon in the month. Nothing else in your hand? Oh and I think you mean steal - not the metal, steel. But while we're on the subject of clarification... could you explain the stealing bandwidth and poorer experience. Not quite sure I'm making the connection. |

at 4:35 PM, Friday July 11, 2008 EDT Thanks for the spelling correction shampoo, I hope that tangent gives you a small sense of victory in this debate (man I'm in a mean mood).
I don't believe you can't see why cheaters are bad for the community. Do you really believe the community needs this to be interesting? I think you may have just become bored of KDice. To most people who play KDice is interesting because they're up against good competition. Think of chess. Good games are good because they players are skilled not cheaters. Imagine someone in chess doing illegal moves and winning and then claiming chess needs this to be exciting. It's not cool, in fact people interested in chess would think this cheater is wasting their time and should be kicked out. Does that analogy help explain how cheaters use bandwidth and detract from the game experience? The drama you're talking about is only interesting to a very small group of people. If thats what keeps these people coming to the site I would much rather they stay away and so would thousands of other players who are too busy playing to read this forum. |
