I have played this game for over 1 year; practically its entire life. I have made an enormous amount of friends here, had some of the most interesting and tantalizing conversations of the year were right here, on kdice.com. I enjoyed the game -- but mostly because of the great friendships, and spunky personalities that it seemed to foster.
On many occasions I have likened the upper eschelon of kdice to professional wrestling. Many of the characters and people are 'larger than life' and many play roles that they have either created, or were created for them -- sortof an impromptu form of creative entertainment for those inclined. Ever since I met and began talking to Ryan, deep down I felt as if he were playing a role too, akin to Vince McMahon, who for many years played the role of "evil president." Sadly, more recently Ryan's act seems to have gone to his head -- gone are the days of playing the game, and enjoying the people. Some background. For many months now, myself, as well as a few other vocal players have requested repeatedly to have rules and guidelines posted. We were interested in team games, censorship, and the definition of PGA -- all these requests were completely ignored. Recently, Ryan posted once to the forum, declaring "PGA" to be unfair and "therefore cheating", however subsequent requests for clarification, as well as an immmense crying out from the kdice community were not only ignored, but completely erased from the site with no explanation. This is a recurring trend in Ryans actions lately: CENSURE with no EXPLANATION; and while some have come to his defense, after all, it is "his game" -- he would have nothing without his players, and his draconian and totalitarian treatment of them in recent months is not only unfounded, but dispicable. KDICE IS NOTHING WITHOUT ITS PLAYERS. In the last week, Ryan has banned, muted, or benched, numerous players without cause. He has given no explanation, and quite honestly I don't think he has one. He has repeatedly singled out certain players based on accusations that are ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE in the current time, and has ignored a much, much larger group of people who do infact do exactly what he has deemed cheating -- and they do it blatantly, in the open, and WITHOUT FEAR OF REPRISAL. I have asked him why -- but expect no response beyond unwarranted CENSORSHIP and deletion of this thread, as he has so FRIVILOUSLY AND REPEATEDLY done in the past. Ultimately, I believe the problem is that Ryan chooses to attempt to control the kdice population, something he really has no business doing -- and certainly has no business doing based on his half assed one sided enforcement of rules he refuses to make public. Rash unfounded actions which are abhorred by a majority of the community is no way to create a peaceful and friendly environment in which to play. I have many friends, and many "enemies" in this game; but one thing that is constant among them all is their objection to the UNFREE and UNJUST actions which seem to randomly plague the game's creator. The only question left is: When will it happen to you? postscript: ryan, i actually like you (and you know that).. sorry you refused to listen to reason for six months. |

"kdice is nothing without players, BUT KDICE WILL BE MUCH MORE WITHOUT SOME PLAYERS" by the way, ryan is not obligated to do anything we asked of him or respond to every post/idea here......... |

You believe the best method for handling the given situation is to in theory excommunicate a number of players whether it be the "bug" or blatant IP banning, etc...? All this without one reason. The best method is to not just ban whoever aggrivated him for whatever reason, warranted or unwarranted, at any given time without any given reason. This is not an appropriate form of action, more like a form of dictatorship. Sure this is a game, but at the same level of mentality on a wider scale people blow sh*t up for this form of "response." It's been a few days and still no explanation for why I was banned which I cannot even begin to contrive a reason. The only time I've ever even spoken when Ryan was present (to me, whether he stalks me or not is really up to his voyeur) was questioning his decision to change the scoring system mid-month and even then there was no insults present, only my persistence to examine how this decision was unfair to players. So if that is worthy of an IP ban to anyone, please let me know since I'm apparently rashly illogical. |

at 2:23 PM, Tuesday January 22, 2008 EST ryan ... get your head out of your rear-end. according to my made-up statistics less than 5% of the registered users even post in the forums ... but people have been rather vocal lately about getting some small amount of consistency in regards to the rules/stats/game-play.
. . either police this game with an iron fist ... and spell out all of the rules for everyone to read ... or let the community police themselves and watch from a distance . . it's getting stupid and rather ridiculous to relearn the game-play every month or two. . . let the community have a few months of stability without you changing rules ... killing stats ... and for the love of bacon ... create a FAQ or Rules section. . . you are a good programmer ... you suck at community building. . . ///////////////// // end rant // //////////////// |

. ------------------------------------------ You know, telling someone he "sucks" at community building is not exactly encouraging improvements in the game. This is not the magical phrase that all of a sudden converts Ryan to your way of thinking. In fact, it accomplishes just the opposite. I assume you choose this way to interact with someone because you are either immature or severely dense. Whatever the reason, it doesn't really help the discussion here so tone down the insulting rhetoric. |
