Here are Fatman_x's final stats:

Olkainry38 did not play any additional games after Dec 21.
Here were the two leaders on Dec 21:
1591 22% 16% 13% 13% 10% 11% 11% 21975 Fatman_x
0894 22% 20% 16% 13% 11% 08% 07% 21798 olkainry38
The November scores are below. They were recomputed when I found I had been using the 2009 datum instead of the 2010 datum.
The Test Against Zero Datum (TAZD) is a weighted sum of the squares of the differences between a player's percentage profile and the profile of a typical player with a zero score, adjusted according to the square root of the number of games played. If you would like to enter the cumulative TAZD competition for 2010, reply to this thread in the account that you want to enter.
In 2010, the cumulative TAZD began in April, because some January, February, and March profiles had corrupted percentages.
A minimum of sixty regular games per month was required.
Entries show number of games, percentages, and player name.
A minimum of 540 regular games played was required to remain in the standings as of December 31.
Here are the end of November standings with the new datum.

The dom percentage might be useful in measuring vflags and other forms of wimpiness. All other things equal, if you vflag you will go out with more lands, relative to your place of finish, than if you fight, so for two players with the same percentage profile, the wimpier one would have more dom in the direction of seventh place, where it counts less, and would therefore have a lower dom percentage. When I get to my spreadsheet computer I will try to work out some math. |
skrumgaer wrote
at 8:58 AM, Wednesday November 17, 2010 EST To interpret dom percentage, consider a table with 28 lands to make the math easier. If second through sixth place fight to the death, the dom values from seventh to first would be
1/28, 1/27, 1/26, 1/25, 1/24, 1/23, 22/22 At the opposite extreme, if all have 4 lands and each flags in succession, we would have 4/28, 4/24, 4/20, 4/16, 4/12, 4/8, 4/4 If all players were of equal skill, this would result in an average dom of 17.7% for the fighters and 37.0 percent for the wimps. So we get the counterintuitive result that for the same distribution of finishes, the higher dom indicates greater wimpiness. For a particular player, we could compare his average dom against the flagfest average dom for his particular distribution of finishes, and the smaller the ratio, the less is his wimp factor. I think chloe deserves another "+" for her discovery. Here are the top 100 arranged by their dom percentage. These have not been adjusted for differences in percentage profile. For example, Kehoe has played only one game. at 10:05 AM, Wednesday November 17, 2010 EST im not so sure about the correlation between vflagging and dom. im not sure how to form my own hypothesis, but lets just do a case study of sam. the dude hardly EVER vflags, hes always aggressive and instead of vflagging, will fight, then suddenly flag out and steal whatever dom he has, instead of trying to vflag or whine/bitch until he gets killed. my guess with sam is that he gets more points per 7th than most anyone else, he gets more points per 6th than most anyone else, etc etc. its just he takes more 7ths and 6ths than most. but honestly he hardly ever vflags.
on the other hand, im more prone to vflagging/whining/bitching, and my dom is usually around 33-34%. but the fact that people can have months with 40% dom blows my mind. that means that on average, when they end the game, they own 40% of the land. thats sick. |

at 10:14 AM, Wednesday November 17, 2010 EST well hmmmm, sam has only played 8 games, so the 14% is due to low stats, but on average, by just eyeballing, he seems to get about 34% dom. so i'll stop correlating his gamestyle with %dom. dasfury seems to be a consistently high %dom player, more like 36-37%.
it really is fun to try to analyze the different ways that everyone is successful in kdice. sam -> aggressive, early flags das -> dom pwn monte -> chatbox bitch wish -> $$$ shad -> thrax trav -> members tourneys loo -> boobs fiero -> fake boobs bj -> real boobs verm -> cabal Ryan -> coding there are just so many possible avenues to success in this game, which imo makes it great. |

at 10:23 AM, Wednesday November 17, 2010 EST High dom percentage can be linked to a high number of first place endings, since this is automatically 100%, even if the winner only has one land at the end.
Checking dom per game will give a lot more info than the monthly dom, but that's impossible. Ryan should compute an adjusted dom, excluding first places? Although I'm already starting to doubt that would help in any way :/ |

This mean you can't conclude that das is a dom whore, he just goes for first a lot. (this month 34% in 76 games)

at 10:27 AM, Wednesday November 17, 2010 EST At the time I did up the stats, Sam had played only one game, not 8. His dom % is now around 34%. For October, his dom percentage was 38%. For a hypothetical vflagger with his profile, the dom percentage would be 39.7%. Not much difference. But you say that Sam doesn't vlflag. So much for my theory. Maybe after I look at a bunch of players I can get a better idea if the vflag theory works.
