The best game change would be having the attacking die lose as many die according to the defender's rolls. This would stop running through a person's territories and other negative aspects of huge stacks early in the game. It would make people think a long time and rethink attacks besides just always attacking the smallest possible pieces. Honestly, the game would be IDEAL if this were to occur.

Everyone tries to make the game less luck-dependent. Why? I like the luck factor and the way it keeps possible strategies to a few. The more strategy is involved, the more you have to think. Don't know if I was playing that much if I had to think more. Plus: I'd probably be outplayed by the lots of you if it weren't so much about not making mistakes and letting lady Luck fight the rest of it out with the random() goddess.

Asterix, because the scoring system doesn't match to a pretty luck based game. Thats where the people feel the disonance and try to change.

If you see it that way, no scoring system ever would. If there's just a little (and I like it being a little) skill needed, the rating system is good for it. Read "rating system", I say why I think so there.

Actually, I do ;). To prevent you getting a half sided image of me, I have to mention I play chess, too. I like the game as it is, and for most proposals there are other games that suit those ideas better and are more suit to do so.
