lol, apparently all people have different standard and views on words~
of course there should be general definition of words, but we can interpret it in our own ways~
somehow here we won't care or consider how others feel as we don't know each other in general~
that's why lots of players say bad words here~ and they don't think it is a problem and it is just their freedom~

i don't know if you guys have played any online games~ some of them even blocked the words like fuck, shit, etc...... so would you try to make inquiries and challenge why these words should be blocked? basically lots of games are maintained by a team, no matter it is small or big~ i wonder you guys would get a loss when you are banned because of saying cunt or fag.

saying these words is meaningless at all, perhaps you wanna express your temper or mood for some moves of other players~ you can use other words~ there must be rules in each online games including social games~ here is not school, most of us commenting here should be an adult, i believe you should be mature enough to control what you should say or not say~

being a mod is difficult, and it simply wastes their time at all~ lots of challenges here~ perhaps they can't behave like a good mod in your mind, but please, don't be so mean, they have to learn during modding.

of course you guys won't care too much how everyone say here, but just because of this, i don't think blocked saying these words would really harm you at all~

to discuss the nature of words needs lots of times and i personally don't think there would be a consensus at all~ it is just a chat only, losing a word means nothing, it is not unfair when you play this game~

if you really think these mods are stupid and annoying or even naive when proposing these kinds of rules, you can just send email to Ryan or quit it or just play the games and waiting for ban when saying these words~

I thus suggest to do it the Red Dwarf way: "It is never Mr. Rimmer, Sir. It is Smeghead or Smeg for Brains." But maybe these workarounds have made it to the books by now. I liked the idea of getting a TV-series a lower PG-rating by replacing some expressions. We could even use those non-english languages to swear. That might have an educational value if the words were looked up by the recipients (I learned a lot on alt.flame).

And yes, there should be (and up to my observation is) some tolerance towards uncontrolled single short outbursts of vulgarism (ofc not if those happen repeatedly or last for 10 minutes).

Well, actually Niger is the name of a country (home to 17 million people - 1.5 times the population of Belgium!) and a river in West Africa.

While it might be a little more frequent as a misspelling of the dreaded N-word, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that a Nigerien player would want to play kdice, so any bans for it should take the context into account and be subject to mod discretion (based on careful deliberation).
