Either hate speech is prohibited or it isn't. Only banning certain types of hate speech lends credence to the thought that one group of people is superior to another.

Harassment is another rule, not just hate speech. I just think it's a bit of a double standard. I don't condone racial / sexual vilification at all. I'm not saying DON'T ban Troy, I'm saying the exact opposite. Enforce the rules across the board. It seems a bit selective to ban Troy because gaunt / gurgi said so, but then in other cases the response is "well, can we just call it even?". It seems especially rich given Gauntlet tells everyone he's gay constantly, and Gurgi jokes about it often himself.

If something is against the rules, penalize it. And yes that goes for me too, ban me if I'm breaking rules I fully support it. Giving some people warnings and banning other people just creates this grey area where it seems like mods play favorites, and some people can get away with bloody murder and the less popular people get the book thrown at them.

there is a huge difference between hate speech from raging at someone during a game and going to the forums to harass someone.

when youre in a game youre mad at losing the game - happens to everyone, probably deserves a warning if its too bad i dont really give a fuck

Troy is pretty much making fun of himself. I mean seriously...the only reason people think being gay is weird is from religion and if religion says God made us in his image then how did God make a mistake? Since no one can prove that God has EVER made a mistake one must assume that God didn't. Therefore....religion just lost.

Gurgi - I'm agreeing with you. If someone did something 'ban worthy' then ban them. Just make sure you don't pick and choose who to apply these rules to. You should probably come up with clearer rules about what exactly is 'ban worthy' to begin with.

For the most part the rules are vague. Everyone is obviously sensitive about different topics. You might think homosexuality is DEFINITELY taboo so saying hateful things about gays should be a banable offence. For other people it could be racism, disability, pedophilia, any number of other topics. To say something isn't "hate speech" because it isn't sexual or racist in nature is absurd. Yesterday rasta man was saying it's a known fact that 1/4 of all muslims are extremists and that they are breeding like animals. There was a 20 minute "discussion" about how a quarter of muslims are terrorists basically. Me personally? Couldn't give a fuck. Integral who apparently grew up muslim clearly took some offence. What he was saying was laughable and ignorant, but offensive all the same. As far as I know he has not been banned.

I don't want to go all PC and just ban everyone. What I want is consistency. It staggers me that THIS is an instant ban, but other things are not.

If you want to stamp out the vulgarity and harassment, do it. This business of selectively warning people and banning others is a joke.

I fully agree that it's impossible to be perfectly consistent all the time. I could just ban every single hint of hate speech or allow simply everything but that would be the only 2 scenario's that could come close to being superclear.

It's funny that it's usually the people who walk the grey line a lot who are complaining about inconsistency the most.

The fact is that in theory all hate speech is bannable. So if you want to avoid risk being banned for it, just don't do it. I can't and won't ban it all but I will ban when I think it's unacceptable.

People should take into account here that Troy has a long history of bans, including ones for foul language. He has been warned multiple times by different mods on both pokr and kdice and probably xsketch too. So why on earth should I give him another warning.

His words might not seem that harsh to some of you but I don't think it's ok for him to just post on the forum and say "hey let's make fun of gays cuz they're all screw ups"
