The lag hack

It exists, the mods know it exists, Ryan (if he cares) would know it exists. Why will the mods do nothing about it?

Reviving because when this thread was active, the cowardly scum who use this cheat weren't using it as much, but it's gotten active again. Just be aware, folks: some players can make you lag out of your game. Nobody in a position of responsibility involved with this site actually cares.

I can't say it's this lag hack. On BigFreeroll now our table had 25minutes+ game and a lot players complained and then it started lagging, lagging hard. I couldn't do anything and suddenly i "flagged" and finished 2nd even i was 12 lands ahead of second guy. Because of that I fell out of tournament after 2 tables, that 70pts made a diffrence. So I don't know how it works or does it even work. All i can say it is suspicious that huge lags started after a lot of players from other tables started to complain about the lenght of our game.

Gotta love conspiracy theorists.
Oberyn Martell, dude. You just lagged which made you resign forcedly.

Maybe the server itself experienced sone problems? But then, that happens even without DDOS attacks.

If it were system lags without player interference, the top players who use this trick would be complaining about it, Jurgen would be sending e-mails to Ryan instead of just throwing his arms up and making jokes. It is real, it's tolerated, and it's some bullshit.

I did bring the matter up with Ryan in the past. There's not much he can do to protect his server (which he rents btw) and well, I guess he thinks it's not worth investigating. He's partly right because , even if it happens, it doesn't happen often.

I, as a mod have no way of stopping it, or investigating it. I did my job in bringing it to Ryan's attention. I even did more than I should in keeping notes for months, trying to look for patterns by noting down who benefited the most from a suspect lag. That was over a year ago and lately, I hardly ever see a suspect lag anymore.

Yeah, I had a few suspects back then but not enough proof imo to start banning. I will never ban based on a hunch or when being "almost sure". I even got weird lags with very suspect timing myself a few times. My access to the site came back exactly after I died in a winning position.

You can stay paranoid as long as you want. I can't convince you that there is no commonly used lag hack and actually there have been DDOS attacks so I'm not even denying they exist

The reality is though that they probably aren't being used in the low level games that you play. The risk/reward is zero there. If they have been used in the past, it was probably only limited to high stakes tables or tournaments or to screw a competitor without even sitting.
