at 2:12 PM, Saturday September 20, 2014 EDT To be honest, I never expected to provoke an angry reaction like this. I'm sorry if you thought I was questioning Your personal integrity or consistency, I can assure you that I wasn't.
The question wasn't even directed at you in particular. More like I wanted to know if e.g. integral still thought that the moderation on xsketch could be a good model for this site. As for your analogies, I would probably not ask my boss to choke on a bag of dUcks but I wouldn't expect to be sent off for an occasional f*ck in a soccer game either. And if you play other online multiplayer games you should find that there isn't one universally accepted threshold or standard out there either, and agressive/competitive games might be a little more tolerant towards bad language than others. But I don't want to engage in a meaningless heated discussion either so just leave it at. :) |

at 1:10 AM, Monday September 22, 2014 EDT In contradiction to what Jurgen said, there is no clear line. If there was, it could be put down somewhere.
But, I don't think there is a need for such a line or definition. We've been doing fine the way things were done so far. A little variation on the subjective definition of the position of that line caused by the personality and spare time of the active mods will not really hurt much. If it should happen that a moderator gets lost in his personal perception, that can be corrected by Ryan. Nothing to worry too much about. However, I have to say that Yodel repeated a point I've made several times. If "Nigger" leads to a ban no matter what that is some sort of discrimination in itself, as the named group is treated differently than any other group. You can of course ban for using that expression like you can for many other - it shouldn't be an automatism though. There is no automatism for any other single word And, frankly, I don't think my use of the word "Nigger" in this thread is bannable. |

at 6:42 AM, Monday September 22, 2014 EDT analogies relating kdice to the real world are always terrible.
the kid sitting on blue isn't my bus driver red isn't my teacher if you want to treat it like a real world scenario treat it like a sports game where things get heated and said and even attacked. a warning may not seem like a big deal because youre a mod but its a bigger deal to players when they are being watched and observed waiting for them to slip up. warnings should come from players being offended and coming to you to warn the player to watch his behavior not as a way for you to cause drama and then leave when it's convenient for you. "I just think we have discussed the matter enough now. " was there a conclusion that was said or are you just bored of it? " if you're still in doubt where the line is, it's your own fault for not understanding common sense rules." is it my fault for not understanding when you leave and never come back to continue a discussion? |
