First round games are bad

First round: brown gets a good set of connected areas. Second round: "flag brown". Brown gets an additional advantage in that he knows he's at least not 7th and an indication to other players that he is likely the winner. Other players follow in flagging as they're threatened by brown. This snowballs into a 1st for this player. The game is decided in the first round. Not good.
There's gotta be a good solution to this. There was a similar behaviour years ago but it had a critical difference. In the second round someone would say "truce brown?" or more subtly "brown, we cool?". If accepted the two would hold off until as a team they are securing the victory. The critical difference is that the snowball of people trucing brown didn't happen. Instead other truces would form and you would have a sort of team game. Much better result. Is the first version because of the flagging system? How do you get that third person to not also flag brown but to form an alternative outcome to the game? |

at 5:38 PM, Friday August 9, 2013 EDT I don't like your idea for dom, jurgen.
Why should someone sit to watch others fight? The goal is to kill everyone else not to live in peace happily ever after. And why should you reward someone for being stabbed? If you are stabbed and lose you deserve it. |

at 6:01 AM, Saturday August 10, 2013 EDT yii, you take 2 sidenotes, throw them out of context and don't like the main idea because you misrepresent the 2 hypothetical situations to try and make them sound like a bad thing.
good job in proving you're a girl with that comment :P More early dom (that gets locked in for you at one point) will of course promote more agressive play in the early rounds and will get more weakflags refused so people can grab kills and dom. |

at 1:11 PM, Saturday August 10, 2013 EDT The problems Ryan described may be a problem at lower tables. Since those don't have dom, why change the system?
On higher tables people have realized that with the new point system the only place worth playing for is 1st. So early flags are rare and if they happen they are likely to be countered. |

at 7:24 PM, Saturday August 10, 2013 EDT I like that concept but it would be vulnerable to otf moves so I would advise to limit it to 500 tables max.
You could really spice up Kdice with a few variations like that but keep them at limited points so people would not bohter about points and just play them for the reason Kdice should be played: FUN |
