Added kill bonuses. What do you think? Good bad? They are reported when you get your score at the end. The caveat is that they're currently not adding the bonus to your score. Will turn that on tomorrow.

at 2:52 PM, Wednesday July 24, 2013 EDT Whoa, I really need to go on holidays more often. Tournaments and 4/16 stack were also added just when I was away.
Great new additions Ryan. Thanks for your efforts to spice up the site. Both the kill bonus and "most points for 1st" will help to put the "war" back in this social wargame. I've added most of my initial thoughts on the updates on your iogc tumblr blog. Great idea to create that blog btw and I will add it to my "useful KDice links" advisor blog. |

This way a weak player has incentive to flag out before being killed! But bonus points will increase the chance of backstabbing. |

at 9:38 PM, Wednesday July 24, 2013 EDT I really don't like this rule. I have seen several time that a player promises another weak one 2nd, and then does not accept others flags. Then after all others are lost, the weak person who has just sit and ended turns gets 2nd. I think negative points for being killed is much better.

at 4:32 AM, Thursday July 25, 2013 EDT Although I really like the kill bonus, I have to agree with izadi that is has potential downsides.
people will start keeping small players alive behind them and screwing ppl for kill farming (especially if the kill bonus would be increased too much on higher tables) Also, kill bonusses in tournaments are a big nono imo because I've already seen them mess up games. Biassed example: I get 2 flags in a 3 man game right before payouts. I let people fight so I'm too weak in the end to go claim the kill. I could have easily stepped in when the lands were 9 vs 5, claiming the fight was over. That would have triggered (justified) whining from the losing player (who was out if killed) as there still was a 20% shot or so to come back. Then 2nd asks for the kill. I ask not to but can't prevent it. OK, lesson learned for the future but I predict this will cause problems because it's going to be human nature to abuse this. It's a breeding pit for mini-funnels or mini-favours too: ppl will ask for kills because they gave a kill in a previous game. A last potential problem could be long heads up matches, especially in member tournaments. I think I played like 12+ games until I proposed a tourney roll off last time. The problem is that there were 200 kill points added and the ante was only 150. So someone needed to win at least 5 in a row to win. I think it will be less of a problem in tournaments with 20+ people in it though. Anyway, in short, I think kill boni are a great concept but I fear it could become messy, especially in tournaments. |
