I've created a KDice add-on that allows you to keep track of users and their game play.
My motivation behind creating this tool is that I often forget users and their tendencies. Some players stab; some players are abusive, some players are friendly, etc. It is a huge advantage to know this information before going into the game. Unfortunately my memory is not strong enough to recall all previous games I've played with people. So I created a tool that remembers for you. Here is an example of it in use: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/17/screenshot20110515at300.png/ The add-on currently allows you to store information about individuals while in game. But I plan on expanding it to also allow you to see the opinions voiced by your friends/trusted users. I know some people are thinking; "Hey isn't there already a review section to kdice?". Yes there is; however, as many veterans to this game have come to realize; the review section is pretty much just a wall for angry beginners to voice their angst and real quality reviews by yourself/friends are quickly lost in the vast ocean of non-actionable reviews. This is the first version of this add-on and I hope to continue improving it over time. At this point; I'm looking for some early adopters to start using it and voicing opinions about features they would like to see. Ryan is currently unavailable to improve this game; so I figured why not have community sourced improvements in the meantime. Requirements: 1. Firefox (Chrome will be supported eventually; please tell me if this is important to you) 2. Greasemonkey (A simple extension for firefox; easily installed at the following link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/) Once you have the above requirements; my Kdice add-on can be installed at the following link; very simple; just press "Install". http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/102923 Please feel free to contact me via this thread; in game (deadcode); via the userscript website; or via email (dustin at nov8rix dot com). Usage Instructions: 1. Press "Update Players" while in a game. 2. Green boxes will appear on the upper left of each players avatar. 3. Click the green box and a dialog will appear allowing to you view the current notes you have taken on the users; as well as the ability to modify them and save. Please excuse the crude nature of this release. I literally started on this tool yesterday. Let me know when you encounter bugs (giving me detailed information about how you encountered the bug will help me fix it swiftly and is much appreciated). Also please give me feedback. What direction would you like this tool to grow in? As a side note; if there is anyone out there with graphics knowledge that wants to collaborate on this project please let me know. I could definitely use some help making this product easy on the eyes. I hope everyone finds this tool as valuable as I do. Thank you and enjoy! |
