I've created a KDice add-on that allows you to keep track of users and their game play.
My motivation behind creating this tool is that I often forget users and their tendencies. Some players stab; some players are abusive, some players are friendly, etc. It is a huge advantage to know this information before going into the game. Unfortunately my memory is not strong enough to recall all previous games I've played with people. So I created a tool that remembers for you. Here is an example of it in use: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/17/screenshot20110515at300.png/ The add-on currently allows you to store information about individuals while in game. But I plan on expanding it to also allow you to see the opinions voiced by your friends/trusted users. I know some people are thinking; "Hey isn't there already a review section to kdice?". Yes there is; however, as many veterans to this game have come to realize; the review section is pretty much just a wall for angry beginners to voice their angst and real quality reviews by yourself/friends are quickly lost in the vast ocean of non-actionable reviews. This is the first version of this add-on and I hope to continue improving it over time. At this point; I'm looking for some early adopters to start using it and voicing opinions about features they would like to see. Ryan is currently unavailable to improve this game; so I figured why not have community sourced improvements in the meantime. Requirements: 1. Firefox (Chrome will be supported eventually; please tell me if this is important to you) 2. Greasemonkey (A simple extension for firefox; easily installed at the following link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/) Once you have the above requirements; my Kdice add-on can be installed at the following link; very simple; just press "Install". http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/102923 Please feel free to contact me via this thread; in game (deadcode); via the userscript website; or via email (dustin at nov8rix dot com). Usage Instructions: 1. Press "Update Players" while in a game. 2. Green boxes will appear on the upper left of each players avatar. 3. Click the green box and a dialog will appear allowing to you view the current notes you have taken on the users; as well as the ability to modify them and save. Please excuse the crude nature of this release. I literally started on this tool yesterday. Let me know when you encounter bugs (giving me detailed information about how you encountered the bug will help me fix it swiftly and is much appreciated). Also please give me feedback. What direction would you like this tool to grow in? As a side note; if there is anyone out there with graphics knowledge that wants to collaborate on this project please let me know. I could definitely use some help making this product easy on the eyes. I hope everyone finds this tool as valuable as I do. Thank you and enjoy! |

at 1:40 AM, Saturday May 21, 2011 EDT I just posted an update to the script. Re-download it:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/102923 Updates include: 1. The script auto updates! This means when new updates come out it will automatically prompt you to download the new update. NO more having to re-download the script when and update comes out. This will be the last time. 2. Color coded indicators; so far only yellow and green. Green means no notes; yellow means the player has notes. Now you will be able to know at a glance whether there are any notes on a player present. 3. The script now is able to detect when players change; therefore there is no reason to have an Update Players button any more. Players will automatically be updated. Updates will continue to come; please continue to give me feedback. As you can see; many pieces of feedback from this thread were added in this new update; and many more will be added in the future. |

at 4:12 AM, Saturday May 21, 2011 EDT you could change the colour code (in combination with an extra multiple choice box you would have to add to the review popup that offers options 1 2 3 4 )
grey: no review given or choice 1 : I dunno how to rate this guy yet red: choice 2 : to avoid yellow: choice 3: ok but not perfect green: choice 4: seems safe to play with so then when you play, you immediately have a visual of who to rate and how you rated you can then click the players if needed to see more in detail what you typed (or update the review) for the far future: you could have the review you made appear outside of the map area somewhere if you have your mouse on the colour coded box |

at 3:46 PM, Saturday May 21, 2011 EDT For those of you waiting for the Chrome version; here is a summary of the issue holding it up.
In order to store data within firefox and avoid the data being destroyed when you delete history/cookies I use a GreaseMonkey function called GM_setValue(). This function stores data on a script by script bases instead of cookies/localstorage(chrome) which is on a domain by domain basis. Basically I can get Chrome to work; but if you were to clear your cookies, you would lose all your data. Clearly this is a deal breaker. I'm am currently working on a cloud based service oriented, database-backed storage solution. When this is finished it will help resolve this issue. If anyone can think of any solutions to this issue; let me know. Otherwise Chrome is going to have to wait on the server integrated version of my script. Hope this is clear. |

at 4:22 PM, Saturday May 21, 2011 EDT don't think this is good enough (no expert so it might not even work) but I'll just post it
if you make the name of your specific cookie public here, can't they manually search for it and copy your cookie to another folder before clearing cookies. Afterwards they can copy it back to the cookie folder. |

at 4:52 PM, Saturday May 21, 2011 EDT Unfortunately; that may be to complicated for many of the users. Plus it would be a nightmare to support.
Don't worry Chrome is a very high priority on my list. I'll figure something out. |
