Republicans are a self fulfilling prophecy. They campaign on how bad big government is and when they get elected they prove it.

at 3:28 PM, Sunday May 15, 2011 EDT BO is on a mission to prove his democrat shit doesn't stink. The problem is he has shoved his nose up so many dems' buttholes that his nose has gotten clogged and he doesn't realize how foul his words are.

You have about as much a chance of changing his worldview as you do explaining to 14 year old that his PlayStation isn't better then his neighbors XBox360. |

at 2:18 AM, Monday May 16, 2011 EDT harry if you've taken a politics course you should know that the president really doesn't have that much power over congress -- other than setting the agenda. considering how green obama was when he got into office i don't think he used the caliber of manipulation that past presidents had at their disposal to get their party/the other party in line.
what i'm saying is, aside from having some control over what the nation talks about and dirty on congress members (see bush 1, 2 and clinton) there isn't much else the president can do/fix/fuck up. Sure he could hypothetically veto everything if he wanted (veto was originally reserved for blocking laws deemed unconstitutional, so today's veto power was not intended) but that seems counter intuitive to everything a politician does to get elected/reelected. i think we can both agree that there are currently democrats and republicans in offices at local, state and federal levels other than the presidency. i think there is a general consensus on the right that they don't like big government, and indeed its a conservative platform. but if you're against big government, why would you want it to run efficiently anyway? doesn't that serve to disprove your agenda? republicans actively try to prove government is bad, especially when they're in office. think about it for a second and you'll realize it's a theme of conservative leadership. shit go back to the 80s when reagan and bush blew up the deficit, their official plan was to bankrupt the country so they could then cut whatever they wanted: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starve_the_beast that's called being fiscally irresponsible which is why nobody who actually cares about the deficit actually votes republican |
