Similar but not the same, ideologues are characterized by being uncompromising, ideologist isn't.

@MadHat: "social conservative libertarian"? Isn't an oxymoron? Surely you know that libertarians and social conservatives are opposing views in the social arena.

I personally find myself to be closest to the libertarian platform; and I myself cannot stand the social conservative platform.

They aren't opposing view points, being socially conservative is a personal issue, being a libertarian is a political ideology. I think for the most part skrum would advocate against government intervention in social policies and leave us heathens to be dealt with at the Rapture.

Well I for one consider social conservatism to be equally as damaging to the country as the progressives.

Hi, I'm back. I gotta eat sometimes.

I had never heard of an ideologist before. Unless that is someone who studies ideologues or ideology.

I am a Christian. I guess that means I have a theology. Is that the same as an ideology?

Christian theology doesn't lay down much in regard to specific political systems. We are to pay taxes, obey magistrates, honor the emperor.

Political authority is established by God but it follows a separate line of authority than that of his Church.

I tend to support free markets because usually--not always--there is better quality information. Things can go awry if there is asymmetric information (one party knows more about a product, etc. than the other) or high transactions costs.

But you as a scientist do know that a God "probably" doesn't exist?!

Are you saying that some of the stories told about God are probably untrue, therefore, all the stories told about God are probably untrue?

Btw, anyone looking for an interesting watch; or looking to better understand an opposing economic viewpoint should watch "Talk Back On Economics". Kinda low budget; it's on RightNetwork (kelsey grammer lol); but it is entertaining and informative.

It does a particularly good job at summing up my opinions on capitalism and economics in general.

Here is an episode on why government stimulus and quantitative easing will/has not worked.
