Do you really think that Republicans are that different from Democrats? Obviously on the surface you have your major differences in ideology, but the fact that you support Obama so loyally and think that Republicans are so very evil makes me think you are quite ignorant. Did you not notice the whole launching 122 missiles into Libya thing? What's up with that imperialist bullshit? Oh and how bout the whole economic "stimulus" plan? Can you really argue that it was any different than Bush's bailout? Throughout his campaign, Barack emphasized how he would put the money into the hands of the people, not the other way around. What about all his talks about moving away from the heated bipartisanship and bringing about cooperation to advance our national agenda? Bottom line is that Obama is full of shit. Everything he says is a load, and if you don't see past that, you are a moron. You guys need to get over your political parties, they mean nothing. Start voting on the issues.

Anyways, I know this hasn't been the most articulate post in the world, but I'll leave with you a quote from 2007:

?The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch.?

I'll let you guess who said it.

Monte without dealing with serious depression or mental health issues as an individual or at least first hand with someone close it can be very hard to understand why someone can make that choice. Well it is always a tragic waste of life, the power of the mind to create truly dark and depressing moods is without limits.

As for science and bad PR, when you meet a scientist you immediately can understand why science is bad at PR. Scientists tend to be socially awkward and unable to communicate since they spend significantly more time in the lab or buried in a technical text then they spend learning how to communicate their ideas to a layman.

The world needs more Neil Degrasse Tysons and less political ideologues.

wow, that's amazing to hear, glad the hard work (after a while it can feel like work) finally paid off well. Like monte said, hats off for you 2 being patient and getting through such tough times.

My wife has had rheumatoid arthritis for about 10 years now. When we couldn't wait any longer to try for kids (not getting any younger right), she had to give up all her medicines (months in advance) before it was safe to try. We actually only had a window of 3 months to try before her body would probably start to suffer too much from being without medicines.

Luckily we nailed it on the second month (technically the first real month since the first month her cycle went totally crazy) because it already became very tough to hang in there that month.

I even gave up alcohol, hot baths and car seat heating for that period so we could increase our odds.

There were definitely times when the trying felt more clinical and less enjoyable. There's nothing like your wife telling you we need to have sex next Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday regardless of what you have going on. Inevitably it would always fall on a day when I was working, plus going to school, which meant a 16 hour day, then my wife would expect me to perform that night.

Might not sound difficult, but after 17 failed months it got old...

@sam: yeah i just really liked the documentary because it did a great job educating me. the people i was most impressed with were the old lady who knew steve, and the parents of the guy from midlothian, va (right in my backyard). the video did an excellent job of presenting the case that suicide is a good choice for some people (similar to euthenasia almost). i mean, im still pretty bible belt on the issue, and think its possible to bring anyone out of the depression/situations/disorders that lead to suicide. but now i can understand and appreciate different viewpoints on the matter.

@thrax: 4.5 years old = 2006. damn, that means that you didnt name your first after me. :P

how about michelle if its a girl?

my wife and i have a theory which has yet to be disproven: if you agree on a solid name for a boy, you will have a girl, and vice versa.

ange was 100% sure we'd have a girl, and wanted her name to be eliana reese (initials ERG, which i like because im a dork). i preferred naomi reese, so we'll have to wait till next time to have that argument (initials NRG, energy!, such a dork).

my neighbors last name starts with an M. when they brought home their firstborn, i asked the name, and he was like, devon alistair! i paused and was like... DAMN? without skipping a beat, he was like, yup! that way when we bitch about him to our friends, we can just say that DAM kid. one of many reasons i love our neighbors.

in my experience (which is much less than yalls), there is only one thing worse than forced conception sex. and that is forced inducing sex.

"honey, i feel miserable and i want this baby to come out. fuck me tonight, so we can go to the hospital tomorrow."
except now instead of being a flexible sultry 103 lbs, her belly is so big you cant do missionary style, so its either she sits on top and feels bad about herself, or youre staring at her back that has been scarred by pregnancy rashes, and constantly thinking wait, thats not her gspot, thats the crown of my sons head.

man monte, you just gave me a flashback of the last time I had sex with my wife when she was pregnant.

I'm telling you, that's NOT the first skin to skin experience you want to have with your baby son!
