Hyped up about the new season?
Excellent acquisitions of....
Mark Reynolds (BA 0.198 last season) and
J.J. Hardy (BA 0.100 in playoffs last year) are sure to make a big splash with the orioles!
They should fit right in!

flying squirrels really is p sweet all things considered. I mean I get the "p-nats." They were the Potomac Cannons til the nats moved in and they affiliated with the nats instead of the cardinals so the name changed. boooo. Cannons was better.

I thought so too- my little sister read it in AP lang and linked me to it. I thought that the messages he got were laughably bad- bad enough that they're probably modified- and that 66 grand is not a lot considering the amount of work he's doing.

Well, he did say that he only got half of the money from the contracts. Obviously he works for a "company" that takes a cut from the revenue, but I agree, $66K/year to write scholarly papers, theses, and doctorals isn't much.

Well yeah, ofc he's only getting a cut, but even so, 66K isn't a large number all things considered. I mean, he said he would pump out 75 pages over two days, without much sleep or without doing other things. Granted, I'm sure he has a lot more free time over the summer, but that's a lot of hours.

Mussina wanted to stay with the Os, they Os administration blew that (shocking).

I like Mark Reynolds (go hoos), but JJ Hardy needs to be in 2008 form to help at all. I hope he isn't this year's garrett atkins.

If they sign delaroche, this will be a successful offseason. But does it matter? 3rd place in the east...I guess that's an improvement.

That being said, we were kicking ass last half of the season, so hopefully Buck is the answer.

btw Thrax - your sports allegiances are pathetically comical.

My sports allegiances are as follows:

NFL - Washington Redskins
MLB - Baltimore Orioles
NBA - Boston Celtics
NHL - Washington Capitals
NCAA football - Notre Dame Fighting Irish.....2nd is Virginia Tech Hokies
NCAA basketball - Duke Blue Devils

Every team that I like had to do with me being able to watch them on TV as kid on a regular basis.....literally almost every single game was televised with the exception of the Celtics. My allegiance to them was the same as any other white kid that played basketball in America.....Larry Bird.

I am fiercely loyal to all these teams despite the fact that most of them have sucked for most of my life. The Skins blow...the O's are worse...The Celtics are good, but that wasn't the case in the mid/late 90's....Notre Dame football is a joke...

About the only reliable team I have is Duke. I think I chose Duke to rebel against my father and my best friend when I was a kid. They are both diehard UNC fans and I loved shoving it in their pie hole whenever Duke was better. Plus, they were on TV constantly, just like now.
