Every time I read about them and their policies, I wonder how people can even consider voting for them.
Am I right when I believe that they hate pretty much everything that's not white, male, straight, married, and rich? Also: what's the point of their obsession with God and religion? I don't think that religion should play a role in politics at all. And I think it's dangerous if politicians from the (still) most powerful country base their decisions on an ancient book. Do Tea Party candidates still live in the Dark Ages? But what I really want to know now: Why do so many Americans actually want to vote for those hateful people? Apart from the fact that I would (most likely) always vote for a democratic candidate, it would be still better to vote for a more moderate repuclican than for a Tea Party candidate. Comments from Americans (Thrax included ;-)) would be appreciated. |

I send this as a decree to you and all of your people (republicans). Dont fuck this up. If you get a majority in the house and senate, or hell, even if you only get a majority in one of the two, use that newfound power to bring about a meaningful discussion on politics. Do NOT use it as an excuse to poo-poo on any policy that Obama proposes. That is all. |

at 6:48 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT I have voted for different parties (and not just the two big ones) at different times. I'm one of those rare people that does way more research than is necessary, and generally tries to vote for the person rather than the party.
But again, thanks for the assumption. ;) |

at 6:51 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT Apologies if that sounded arrogant. I only meant that I do way more reading than I probably should, and that I try to avoid party-line thinking in general, which I think does far more harm than good.
On a different note, I'm very thankful that one of the local talk radio stations has the local/state candidates on frequently and I get to listen to them directly, which really helps. |

at 6:55 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT I feel you tho. Honestly, if there was a party that stood on the platform of balancing the budget, being socially liberal, and not sticking our metaphorical hands in other countries metaphorical cookie jars, I would vote for them.

at 7:12 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT I said I was monte-lite, not mini-thrax. Mini-thrax's can only be found in Vegas and it's best not to talk about them.
Montecarlite would have had a better ring to it. |

at 7:29 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT Jesus Thrax! The whole rant about paedophiles... its always a shocker to realize some people really think that.
First, I really do not consider paedophilia to be morally wrong. There is nothing wrong about sexually desiring small kids. Whats morally wrong is not to control such desire and molest some. Second, you basically said that while you consider paedophile rape to be wrong, for paedophiles its ok. Thats so untrue! Most paedophiles never ever get out of the closet, porno be their maximum. Exactly because they know how horrible it is to use a kid. And even those who fail to resist - they usually do admit it was wrong later. Third, paedophiles CANNOT CHOOSE not to feel paedophiles anymore, of course not! I always laugh when Europeans say Americans are undereducated but sometimes I must think certain parts of education is clearly missing there. Saying that no scientists, no psychologists can convince you, doesnt sound extremely clever. |

at 8:10 PM, Wednesday October 27, 2010 EDT Jilm, psychologists offer theories on the development of homosexuality but have found no hard proof of a specific gene that causes such behavior. If you can find me an article that says otherwise, please share it.
I merely used pedophiles as an example that would hit JP's moral compass. I don't condone the molesting of young children but there has been EXTENSIVE STUDIES conducted on the thought patterns and moral inconsistancies pedophiles have in comparison to "normal" human beings. Pedophiles, in most circumstances, honestly believe their actions are OK in their mind. They know society doesn't agree with it, but it does not register as WRONG in their own brain. But hey, I'm just a dumb hillbilly from America. What could I possibly know that an intelligent European like yourself doesn't? I should just shutup and keep my uneducated opinions to myself. I can't imagine how our country still dominates the world with all the idiots we have running around over here. It's amazing... |
