I was just looking through some old month leaderboards, and I find it fucking crazy that the top 3 each month, on average, have less than 40 kills the whole month. I dont understand this. Most players who are top 3 played at least 200 games that month. That means they are only getting a kill one out of 5 games. Does this surprise anyone else? Or give a hint that we are being "too nice" at 5ks and 2ks?

Your top point gainers play a lot of tournies and accumulate a lot of points on the regular tables by employing friendly tactics and flag techniques. Most 2k and 5k games probably only have an average of 1 kill per game...maybe less. Kills on the upper tables too often result in bitching, whining and eventually PGE, so they aren't done very often.

That's my thought anyways...

Killing someone often means exposing a weak spot to others by the move. The top players don't need the kills, they need the win in the game.

I really think that Ryan should tweak the scoring to reward killing. The benefits hypotheticaly are:

1) faster games
2) less pussy chatboxing
3) less respect for vflags that shouldnt be respected

The only problem I see with rewarding kills is that it will be exploited like everything else in KDice. But the 2% that exploit it probably underweighs the 75% it could change in their playing style.

i had a lot of fun when TCS offered a PLUS + for most kills(i forget which month) i pissed a lot of people off if was great

I agree that there should be a point bonus for kills- nothing huge, but something large enough to give people a little incentive.

Also trendz when I get home I'll find my kpg spreadsheet from a few months back so we can have some basis for comparison. otherwise feel free to try to search through the forum from february, hah.

another way to get the 3 improvements Monte mentioned is an automatic resign of 7th at round 5 or something and 6th at round 10, etc. Weaker players will have to be more agressive to stay in

This system is also exploitable and it's hard to come up with a perfect way to identify the weakest player that is still alive: avg dom,#lands or #dice over the entire game, over the last 3 turns,...

All I know is , I would love to try this type of autodeath game
