I have grown tired of people abusing the system by using alts to perpetrate crimes against the Kstate and then being able to use their mains without penalty. From now on, if I ban one account for breaking the law, any other accounts that belong to the same ip will also be banned.
You have been warned. |

at 11:45 PM, Saturday August 7, 2010 EDT Nice try Boner, but your folly is that a shared account need not be abused in the way you described. The transgression you described is a PGA. And in this scenario the shared account is a tool of the PGA, much like how an alt can be used for PGA. Ultimately guns don't kill people, people kill people. Similarly shared accounts don't cheat, cheaters cheat.
So yes my analogy actually fits perfectly and that's why I picked it. And I'm not quite sure where you got that idea that insider trading is tantamount to sharing an account. But you don't seem like a bright guy so I'll let it slide. |

at 11:53 PM, Saturday August 7, 2010 EDT so why would you want to share an account instead of just play two different ones? srsly why?
btw, to everyone who has ever shared accts with veta/blunt/onix/seaking, he told me that all you did was lose him points, that he actually gained a shitload more. actually he has earned well over 1 million points, if you 1) round up a lot of the accounts, 2) add back in all the points that were wiped from him, and all the points that his sharers lost from him, and 3) round up the total by another 130k. he proved this to me with math. |

at 12:12 AM, Sunday August 8, 2010 EDT Indeed, Blunt, a shared account need not be used that way, but it could. I agree, the scenario I described is certainly PGA, but then again, from a certain perspective you could consider any shared account to always be a function of PGA.
And thank you for justifying the legitimacy of my policy. As you state, "shared accounts don't cheat, cheaters cheat". In exactly the same fashion, alts don't cheat, cheaters cheat. And my policy is designed to punish the cheater, not just the alt. I knew that you were smart enough to understand and endorse the logic of my policy. As an aside, one of the original rules of this site was to "Play Nice". Therefore anything that can be considered to be "not nice" is against the rules. Food for thought, Blunt. |

at 1:55 AM, Sunday August 8, 2010 EDT Well I appreciate the reply BR and sorry for the hostility. But, and I'm purely curious here, could you explain in your own words why sharing is a bannable offense considerin just admitted cheaters are the ones who cheat. And random people with alts or shared accounts are necessarily cheaters.

at 1:59 AM, Sunday August 8, 2010 EDT i think BRs point is that most people dont just randomly share accounts. theres usually a "story to be told on the 1st of next month" involved. or something lame like that.

at 2:02 AM, Sunday August 8, 2010 EDT Oh and in reply to monte, obviously you would share accounts that provide certain comedic value, or perhaps with a sibling or friend... should neither of you want to create another account.
indeed it seems to me only expected that we giver all users the opportunity to share accounts and spread this game to friends and loved ones |

at 2:05 AM, Sunday August 8, 2010 EDT yes i think the sole reason a shared account might naively be permissible is if its a married couple who doesnt care about points or something.
but comedic value, at least in the past, has always been tied to "schemes" of some sort, which is what BR wants to attack. meh, ill read more when i wake up. |

I played with some shared accounts in the past for fun. I didn't do it again after I came back. I am very willing to give up on the fun potential of sharing accounts to allow for a total ban of shared accounts and leave no grey area. |
