I still have yet to get my Male Caucasian government issue check in the mail... |

at 9:37 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT Uh, the privilege of being white? If you read my earlier post (you didn't) and you understood it (you didn't, because you're stupid), then you'd know that black and Hispanic children often grow up in poverty and without a secure household. Without your family telling you to do well and encouraging you to do well in school, you are likely not going to do well in school. On top of this, schools (and teachers) in inner-city schools are notoriously bad. Do you really think you would get a good education at South Central High?
You really need to understand that the vast majority of poor people WORK, more often than not, multiple jobs. Social mobility in America is a myth. For the most part, peoples' hard work goes unrewarded. Most people earn success through luck, and a good "starting point" socially (like being upper- to middle-class, white with two parents who encourage hard work). On top of all this, despite access to Food Stamps, poor children in America are often malnourished. I know you don't know this, but malnourishment to a child's brain starves it of the nutrients it needs to properly develop and causes irreparable damage. See: http://feedingamerica.org/faces-of-hunger/hunger-in-america-2010/hunger-report-2010/key-findings.aspx People like to think that racism is dead in America, and for the most part we have made a lot of progress over the past 50 years. However, classism is still a very important issue. Like some college freshman from a sheltered suburb reading John Locke for the first time, you have swallowed hook, line and sinker the tantalizing justification of the simple 'American Dream' story: everyone has a chance to work hard in life, those who do are successful and deserve their just reward. You have created a fantasy world where anyone, no matter how difficult the conditions they find themselves birthed into, can simply work their way out of the bad times if they put their nose to the grindstone. That you can even say 'all humans are created equal and that sheer determination and willpower can overcome incredible odds' not only indicates that you have probably spent little if any time around real poverty, suffering and misery, but that you cannot even conceive of a simple idea like a child being born into a situation where hard work and effort are discouraged or derided. |

at 10:13 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT So let me get this straight, I'm privileged because my parents make me try hard and instill proper work ethic values, and they only do this because I'm white??? And black and Hispanic parents don't do this? Am I gathering that comment right? If so, how the fuck does that have anything to do with RACE?
Calling me dumb is pretty funny since you are actually arguing FOR me and contradicting yourself in the very post that is supposed to be against me... |

I am a white male. Started a business myself. Drove an escort that blew smoke in my face when I put heater on in winter for years. Never had more than a few hundred dollars in bank account and was pay check to paycheck despite opportunity to make a steady income new company car. I made my company an $18,000,000.00 a year fast growing company over a decade plus of work. Made the mistake of letting my ex wife control my books and she pretty much bankrupted me with embezzling. I now maintain a shell of my company and work as a waiter a couple nights a week. Live the real world. True capitalist work hard, far, far, far harder than others and why America is the superpower we are. If I worked as hard as my grandfather, I would be a multi millionaire(whether white black asian or arab) Work hard, and work smart u win, period. Only thing holding us back is government, and lawyers. My easy way out is to not try and cry poor me like liberals do. I did nothing wrong. I struggled, invested my entire future and got screwed(now legal system screws me more) but my answer is to work harder. Try it pansy. Work like the chinese. Work like the Indiana. Work like the true capitalist in America. Work like the military. Stop being a whiny ass pansy, and actually work a day in your life u freaking pussy |

at 10:15 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT OH, my moms parents were poor, but worked hard.
My dads parents were poor, but worked hard. My parents worked hard and live a "better" life than their parents. I work hard and I will live a "better" life than my parents do. I'm sure this is all because my family is white. |

at 10:48 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT If you look up the statistics, we are actually worse off than the previous generation. Average American wages have not gone up since the 1970s. You are wrong on every front, and I'm just letting you know now that all your evidence on your personal life is completely irrelevant. Anecdotal evidence is not satisfactory if we are to have an actual discussion. Please stop replying if you're not going to actually address ANY of the points that I actually bring up. Thanks.

at 10:58 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT Your point was that white parents raise better children than do black and hispanic parents. If that is the basis for your argument, then I have to ask what it has to do with social standing? Are middle-class white Americans born smarter than their black and hispanic counterparts? Does a better "start" in life make your work ethic better? Does it guarantee raising smart children?
I'm not addressing your points because you simply haven't made one yet. You said whites raise their kids to work hard, etc.... So how does raising up poor communities change their lookout on life? Does the way you raise your child directly affect their future? What does skin color have to do with this? Stop reading your fucking school books and come up with some real-world original thoughts. Socialism breeds ineptitude and it only caters to the laziest and dumbest of the pack. Socialism would be great if everyone put forth the same effort, but that isn't reality. |

at 11:33 PM, Wednesday July 7, 2010 EDT Average wages have not gone up you say? Care to elaborate on that? What are those averages adjusted for? And have you considered that there might have been significant increases in the likes of social benefits? I dont know that much about the wagedevelopment in the US, so kinda curious regarding that statement, as life quality is determined by so much more than the pure level of wages.
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/COLA/AWI.html Anyways, most forms of socialism is daft, and would never work out in reality, no matter how fair and good they seem in theory. I have no trouble paying high taxes knowing that it helps out my fellow countrymen that is in need, although there obviously are people taking advantage of that system. However, if people arent gonna get rewarded for getting a good education, working hard and achieving something within their job, then how do you expect a country to develop and get the best out of their population? |
