Shame it's just another move towards socialism...

Let's create even MORE government dependant families.....I can afford it.

What's the over/under for private health insurance's death? I give it 3 years.....then it will be fully socialized.

Can't wait for the U.S. government to run yet another program into the ground. Good job dems, your plan to ruin this country gets a little more footing every single day.

Pat,

My organ has already failed. I am not getting enough points per game for my root.

But in regard to the freeloader argument, would it not make sense that whoever decides who gets the treatment pays the bill? If hospitals decide to let themselves get freeloaded upon, they pay the bill. If lawmakers decide to let the people they represent get freeloaded on, they pay the bill, rather, the people who voted for them pay the bill until they are voted out again.

The solution I propose: Take out an insurance policy that will pay you off if you are called a "freeloader".

Yeah I've decided I'm against this. My parents have to pay more even though we are sticking to private insurance.

read the details on health care:

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1914020220100319

it's actually quite a moral bill.

if you're making more than $250,000 per year, your complaints on the lower and middle class are dumb. you're doing fine. ridic.

Giving the masses free bread, milk, water, and eggs is pretty moral too, but how social do you want things to go?

well, letting people die because they cant afford treatment is not social enough imo.

but i agree with you thrax that smokers, alcoholics, fatties and all other people who are refusing to give up their unhealthy lifestyle should definetely pay more. it is tough to control someone's diet though.

i hate arguing with conservatives because they take the one semi-progressive thing I say, take it to the extreme and call me a communist

Universal healthcare is "semi-progressive"?

I mean, when people say to me "sob, sob, on noes....a few pharmeceutical companies," I begin to wonder which industries in the private sector matter. We all need banks to watch our money......maybe they should be socialized. We all need food......maybe farms and supermarkets should be socialized. We all needs homes.......maybe construction and real estate should be socialized.

When does the line get drawn on government intervention? When do we start telling people to fend for themselves because nobody is going to GIVE it to you?
