The French thinker Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) said the fundamental difference between right and left wings people in the society is the fascination of the first ones for order and commandment and in contrary the physical distate the second ones feel about these values.

A cool way to recognize good true friends from the others. Eh eh.

Chose your camp fellow. Y que viva la revolucion

Let me know when you are willing and ready to move to China...

The U.S. has such a high imprisonment rate due to an overbearing justice system that incarcerates for non-violent crimes. Fuck sake, in Amsterdam it's legal to get high as a kite in the middle of a crowded street. Of course your incarceration rates are lower!

Jack Swallow,

I'm sorry.
In the US jails, majority are poor (and black) people.

And I'm not sure u understood about China. I said there are less people (and much less actually) in jail over there than in the USA.
Even if Chaina is NOT a democraty as u know (but not hell either).
Reality is always more complex than a Republican brain inner structure. :)

I can look for exact statistics (I dont remember exactly) about life level evolution during the last decades.

It shows approximatively that in the USA (and Europe too but not so dramatically) a tiny part of the population has increased his incomes by a factor of 100 and even 1000 and more for the richest ones (already richest ones of course) during the three or four last decades. In the same time for the large majority of people, it was only between 1 and 2.

Bankrupt for many of them in the next years.

It has not always been the same even in the USA, after the WW2 (till mister Reagan came).

So you are basing your idealogy on the fact that the worst world-wide recession of our generation is bankrupting some people? That's a pretty broad stroke to the canvas. The main start of this economic meltdown was the bubble bursting in the real estate sector thanks to a lot of non-deserving-quasi-poor-people being allowed to take out loans for amounts they couldn't afford. It was a liberal concept that was compounded by the conservatives taking away regulation on the lenders. So in essence, it was an attempt to equalize our country that brought about this recession. Growth will be very slow for a long time thanks to a continuing effort to equalize this country in regards to income.

But not many people agree with me........I'm still waiting for some of my left-handed friends to join the discussion and start disagreeing with me. : D

Swallows,

I just say in my last post that I'm not sure that Buffet or others deserve their incredible incomes related to their capacity of work. So funny u could believe such a bullshit.

Neither the fact these people get so much (with no good reason), gives benefits for the entire society as it's usually said since the 30 last years. Refering to Hayeck and Friedman's studies.
All proves, it's just not the truth !

But u know what, anyway I dont care about your bottom dude and the US, or just because the USA objectively ruled the world during the last 60 years and could as a consequence impose more or less their extremist and semi-fascist model to the world.

But that changes my friend, that changes and much faster u can think.

Charles, I'm assuming you're French.....please correct me if I'm wrong.

If there is a crisis tomorrow in Paris, and some freak earthquake consumes half the city, do you know who the largest contributor to rebuilding that city would be? It's the US government and the good people of our country.......making donations out of our own pocket.

You say these people are undeserving of their wealth, but they've spent their lives creating products or services that millions of people buy. Do you use a windows-based computer? Of course you do. Bill Gates is the richest man on the planet most years and he has literally donated BILLIONS of dollars to charitable organizations over the years.

The USA ruled the world by default after WWII. We rebuilt the very continent you live on. Were it not for the USA you'd be speaking German right now as your first language. Things change, but the US being a dominant world force will not.

Charles has chosen his camp:

"I just say in my last post that I'm not sure that Buffet or others deserve their incredible incomes related to their capacity of work."

A fascination for order and commandment.

In other words, a fascist!

What do the French say about a petard?

@skrumgaer,

1/ I beg your pardon ?

2/ A spliff is a "pétard" in French if it's your question. A "pétard" is any gun too in slang.

@Jack Swallows,

I'm sorry again but that's what you surely and I'm sure sincerly think, but it's not the truth again !

the European Union is the first and from far contributor to the third world and for solidarity in general. Last example, Haïti.

Same for all international institutions, EU is first and far behind: the USA.

charlesVII:

I wasn't asking what the French mean when they use the word petard. I was asking what common expression involving the word petard is used to describe people, such as you, who are in the same category (fascist) as the people you supposedly are on the opposite extreme from.

"Hoisted by his own petard" is the way we doltish English speakers say it.
