The French thinker Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) said the fundamental difference between right and left wings people in the society is the fascination of the first ones for order and commandment and in contrary the physical distate the second ones feel about these values.

A cool way to recognize good true friends from the others. Eh eh.

Chose your camp fellow. Y que viva la revolucion

skrumgaer,

I don't really understand what u mean, maybe because I guess u don't know it yourself.

The train is an analogy for history.
And u can't stay neutral relatively to history.
But if you mean that history stinks. You're perfectly all right, it stinks much, very much. So what ?

Zinn uses an other image: when the first plane took off for the very first time and for a short few seconds, humanity knew that one day a plane would flight for hours as well.

He means that alternatives have already existed in the past as the "Parisian Commune" I told before for example. Even if it was for a short time before being crushed by the French imperialist forces, the plane took off once though !
U can understand it ?

A few time ago before the crisis began, Warren Buffet said "the class struggle does exist and it's my class which won".
It's just mean first of all, that he admits the class struggle exists ! And additionally this "poor" Warren is not very clever... Ah ah ah

skrumgaer,

Should I suppose that slavery would still exist in the USA today if your circle theory was right ?
That's right in any case appartheid still existed during the 50's in the South...

charles, you're a homo. after reading my statement (which i guess you have), how can you possibly think that i'm approving the current political system?

you are jumping to conclusions without even considering that there is more then just left and right. Hence, you are an idiot.

This thread lost most of my attention when someone said "one of the most important episodes of human history" occured in France.

charles I think you need to have your nip pinched a bit more or do some more nip pinching and just not think about politics for a while.

Jack Swallows ,

lol !

The important think here is not that it occured in France. (even if it's the truth :) )

I could have told u about Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liegnitz in Berlin several decades later.

The working class will never be the ruling party in any society, simply because they don't "want" to be the working class. They want to be rich and successful like the people in power. As soon as this wealth is acheived by that set of "working class people", they are no longer working class and you're back to the same political model you had before.

Most humans are greedy and corrupt (and if they aren't now, they will be when given power and opportunity). This is why socialism will always fail.

Most humans are lazy and inept, meaning that less than 100% of the population pulls its weight in the workforce. This is another reason why socialism will always fail.

Government need only enough power to make sure that the rich can't control absolutely everything in the politcal realm. If the poor or the working class don't like this they should work harder to change their situation. I like the thought that I have the ability to affect the direction of my life based on how hard I work and the decisions I make. All I ask is that I get to keep most of what I earn and not have a vast number of (poor) people relying on my money to live their lives.

The far left wing sucks...

The far right wing sucks...

There is balance near the middle.

Swalows:

I'll say A truth to you:
There are in the USA currently more than 1% of the total population (1% !!!) in jail. More than in China !
In Europe, it's only 1 for 1000.

How can u explain that... performance if not by an explicite failure of the system ?
