I just got my first paycheck of the year. Much to my surprise I'm having an additional $4.00 a week taken out of my paycheck for federal withholding (and I don't make over $250K per year). Can one of you beautiful democrats explain this to me?

And of course the deficit dropped when Clinton was in office........all dems know how to do is raise taxes. I could balance the budget too if I increased income by raising taxes on the country.

So first off. At least when shit hit the fan while the GoP was in power it was largely the American peoples part. Anybody that knows anything about the republican financial policy knows that they tend to err on the side of nonintervention thus creating as close to a free market as possible. Im not saying they didn't effect the economy at all, but with GoP laws the economy is largely in the hands of the free market.

Second how many billions of dollars has the government spent on bailing out companies that should go under? Natural selection doesnt just work for biology you know. If an established company can't hold its own then it should be allowed to die out imo. As you can tell I'm a large proponent of a largely unregulated market. The trend is that well supplied free markets tend to grow faster then most other kinds of fiscal models. This in turn creates more tax revenues from large and small companies alike. Which in turn reduces the tax burden on the individual.

Third government spending on Iraq and Afghanistan is not as much as you've been led to believe Gdott. I believe it was about 8% of gov spending under bush and its like 8.9% under Obama, and the total military budget is less then 20% of federal expenditure for this coming year.

finally as far as health care and well fare programs go. I think that the governments duty is to the people as a whole not to the individual. If im going to be paying for somebodies t.v. bill and food i want it to be out of the goodness of my heart not under durress from the gov. well fare is a self perpetuating program that promotes people to be less industrious. My view on health care is simple. Let the gov insure its employees. leave the rest up to the private sector. sure let the govt. put SOME regulations on h.c. but to let our already retardedly inefficient govt run our insurance and h.c. is just dumb. at least we know with the private sector something is getting done right.
