there's a lot of talk about this site needing extra moderation, so i figured that the best way to figure out who is going to be the next mod would be to democratically elect one. in my opinion, a mod should be someone who can...
-be able to identify PGA -know how the higher table politics go -have sufficient knowledge of the game -be able to look at cases objectively -not be afraid to ban people (with sufficient evidence) -be rational (dont ban someone for kicking you out of a tourney) -should not be involved in the monthly competition Kdice has many quality candidates i'll just throw a couple out there, MadHat_Sam, montecarlo, dasfury, kam, and im sure there are tons of others. VOTE OR DIE |

at 11:06 AM, Monday October 5, 2009 EDT Chase, I agree that having the "former" cheaters be the new mods is great. They can spot PGAing or group efforts much easier since they were actually a part of that at one point. But if all the schemers and cheaters start becoming mods, what's the difference between that and a self-policing community?
I simply have trouble believing that all the former cheaters and schemers are ready to moderate a website that they've had years of fun terrorizing in one way or another. And I can certainly see why Ryan is apprehensive in appointing "knowledgeable" KDice mods. I certainly could be doing a better job than I am, but I haven't had the time recently. Even when I do, I'm reluctant to act because bans are sometimes too harsh of a punishment IMO. -play simply forces even more alts to be created which is the exact opposite of what this site needs. Point docking and editable RC's are the way to go. I simply don't know if Ryan will trust any of us with that kind of power. |

at 11:19 AM, Monday October 5, 2009 EDT Most of those people you call cheaters cheat cause the others cheat,as a counter cheating kind of thing.I know how stupid this sounds but no more than it really is.Speaking of stupidity,it is not lamer than banning DLK but not resetting his points so he gets a trophy. If this site is going to get a real good "moderation" i dont really care who or why those people will be,cause there are a lot of things that should be done here.

at 11:45 AM, Monday October 5, 2009 EDT When I posted in this thread, my intent was not to propose myself as a candidate, but simply to contribute to a discussion that I believe to be important to the health of the community. That being said, I do appreciate the votes of confidence that some of you have given me. (Hi Verms!) It is definitely true that Bone-Roller has been retired. However, I have been pretty active playing a variety of alts. I am no longer interested in medals, monthly competitions, etc., and have been playing just for the fun of the games. The fact that very few, if any, players know of the link between Bone-Roller and my other alts speaks well of my intent to stay out of the spotlight for the last year.
As for Fiero's vitriolic comments....It is no secret that I considered Fiero's reign as moderator to be one of the low points of this community. As to his/her/its assertion that I am friends with DLK, that is laughable. It is true that I joined the Kdice alliance in Cybernations, as did Shad, Thrax, MBP, Johnson, Dicey, et al. However, I allowed my account there to be deleted about a year ago, largely because of my disgust with DLK. I believe that Thrax can verify that fact. I am over 18, I do know how to spot PGA and am well aware of the in-game politics of the higher level tables. If called to serve, I will do so as objectively as possible. |

at 11:56 AM, Monday October 5, 2009 EDT i can attest to br's comments. i know a couple of his accounts, but i'm positive that even i don't know some of the main ones he plays now. br gets my vote. also i think dd would be a good choice as well.
the rest of this list is bogus in my opinion. did anyone else literally laugh when they first read the list? i mean seriously. let's get a bunch of known pgaers and account sharers to run this site. awesome plan guys. |
