The rules proposed by Das are quite nice. You'd only have to add "gender" to the race and religion paragraph IMHO.

from what i understand, all thrax asked for was a rules for chatbox and forum posting. in my experience between kdice and gpokr, the rules shouldnt be exactly the same between the two sites. more stringent on gpokr, less so on kdice. xsketch i dont have a clue. feel free to comment if you disagree with this.

HOW THE THREE UNIVERSAL RULES BREAK DOWN IN CHATBOX/FORUMS

1) no porn

GPOKR & KDICE

drawing penises like 8===D will be modded.

drawing big boobed skateboarders O>8-<]: is okay, because there are no titties.


2) no harassing other members

GPOKR:

immediately after losing a lot of fake money, you are allowed to bitch at someone for getting lucky and sucking out on you.

you are allowed to sympathize with your friends who just got sucked out on by bitching at the noob who stole their money.

you are allowed to go post the hand history in the forums, and make comments about how big a donk your opponent was, and how gpokr is rigged.

you run risk of moderation if your bitching goes on for too long. if you are still whining three days later about that piece-of-shit who called your 20x BB preflop bet with Q6o, and rocked the flop, this is too long. expect a warning for bitching that goes past 3 days.

you run risk of moderation if your bitching becomes too intense. if your complaints escalate from a congenial 'how the HELL could you call with THAT, you turd?!?!' to a more-threatening 'I WILL HUNT DOWN YOUR BABY MAMA AND FUCK HER IN HER SKULL UNTIL SHE SAYS 'I FOLD''... expect to be modded. any direct threat to another gpokr player's sexual organs or family or family's sexual organs is too far.

sure, monte, those are easy black/white examples. but what about the grey area?

you are allowed to say 'fuck you' one time to someone per hand. but only after you ask the table if its okay. for example, "hey witnesses to that last hand, is it okay if i say curse in chat to the douche who just sucked out on me." (5 second pause). "FUCK YOU DONK".


KDICE:

you are allowed to bitch at someone if they roll really lucky against you while you roll like a pansy.

you are allowed to bitch at someone if their 1500-elo level strategy unfairly screws you over when they shouldve just taken shads 2stack instead.

same as gpokr, you cant bitch too long or too intense. however, in kdice too long is a week and too intense is anything that cannot be seen as comedic by someone who thinks kehoe is funny.

unlike gpokr, the grey area is different. you can say fuck you as many times as you want during the game. at the end of the game when your opponent says gg, you should then respond FUCK YOUR GG. however, the FUCK YOUs must stop before the following game, unless you start losing tons of rolls again.

you are NOT allowed to manipulate the game from the chatbox if you started the game in the gallery. Ryan himself has modded for this before. truth.


3) do not use hate language.

GPOKR & KDICE

if you say anything over the top racist, expect to be modded. some mods might just give you a stiff warning, but usually this is a first-time-offense-is-punishable type thing. youve been on the internet long enough to know what "over the top" means.

if you say anything over the top anti-homo, expect to be modded.

if you say anything over the top anti-jew, expect to be modded.


EXTRANEOUS RULES

4) no gratuitous spamming of the chatbox.

you are allowed to, in good humor, spam the chatbox after a bad beat or bad roll. i recommend holding shift and hitting the number keys over simply asdfing, which seems neanderthal.

if you spam the chatbox for too long, i.e. a couple hands/turns later, expect moderation.

if you spam the chatbox for no apparent reason, expect moderation.

if the entirety of your online session is copy/pasting links to outside sites, then going to another room and repeating, your account will be banned quickly.

5) no spamming the forums. mostly this is done to cover up a post which outs you as a cheater. whatever was in that original post that you are ashamed of, too bad. if you post 10 new threads in response, you will be modded.



TL;DR
CLIFFNOTES:
if you go over the top stupid, you will be modded asap.
if you are playing in the grey areas, expect to get a warning from a mod. if you dont change your habits, expect to get modded soon thereafter.

I'll see if I can come up with something shortly (on hold with Microsoft at the moment).

It's nice to see everyone saying "no sharing accounts" and "no PGA" and "only enter one account into tourneys" but the reality is that those things are still going to happen. No amount of modding is going to change that.

And making rules that are clearly and obviously broken makes them weak.

This is of course for Kdice only, as I don't really play anything else.

I- No bigotry. No insulting anyone based on race, nationality, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
i- this applies to avatars
ii- this applies to chat, reviews, and
the forums.

II- No disrupting the flow of communication. This means no spamming or "breaking" the chat box, and spamming the forums.

III- Only one account allowed to sit in at a standard game at a time. No logging into an account, sitting it in a game, and then logging out and loggin in with another account to play. (Note standard: the freeroll tourney at this point would become drastically different with the addition of the "alts" that lag out. This should be discussed, of course, as it is a weakening of the rules....)

That's about it. Rules about PGA and whatnot are almost impossible to enforce, and folks that joke about it (like Warlord123 and I) could possibly be accused of it when it is not true.

The biggest problem in the game is immature or stupid people using bigotted language to get a rise out of folks. That should be stomped down on within limits.

That being said, I think there should be a special "mod only" forum where they can discuss trouble and debate cases.

Modding itself needs to be addressed. I think any account that a mod uses should not be allowed to sit tourneys, so as to avoid the issue of conflict of interest. If someone wants to mod, they should be rewarded somehow (cash and prizes! big money! a coffee mug!) to make up for not being able to compete for placement.
