...and there is no sign that Mr. Obama is any different from the past democrats that sat in the oval office. The only exception is that he has 100% compliance within his party and a majority in congress that will pass anything Mr. Obama supports.

How hypocritical is it that Mr. Obama continues to remind the general public of the deficit he inherited, but then spends so recklessly that the possibility of having a balanced budget anytime within his term is utterly impossible.

How hypocritical is it that the libs called the recent spending bill that was passed a "stimulus package". How does $20 billion dollars towards food stamps stimulate the economy? What jobs will be created by increasing food stamp allowances? This is only one example of many within that spending bill, but I'll try to avoid making this post unneccisarily long.

One of you left wingers need to help me understand what our President is attempting to do. The view from the cheap seats here in right field makes the picture look exactly like I thought it would look before the election took place; the liberal democrats want a socialist republic in place of our cherished capitalistic society. Let's continue to drain the rich to pay for the poor. Let's continue to increase taxes on large corporations that have been laying off employees at an enormous pace. Let's increase benefits to the unemployed instead of finding ways to provide jobs for them.

I'm ranting a bit, but one thing is clear. Barack Obama scares the living shit out of me. JP, UGB, anybody, please help me feel better about the job he's doing.

And someone explain to me how the fuck he has a 67% approval rating. They must have done the polling at a foreclosure seminar or a foodbank.

"also i agree with you thrax on the food stamps. Although it is 20 billion dollars that you can be sue about 99% of will be spent, the food industry is not at all hurting (except dairy products)."

This is what I mean by ignorant economics. It has nothing to do with increasing consumption of food (neccesairly).

"Food stamps are one of the most effective forms of economic stimulus because low-income
individuals generally spend their available resources on meeting their daily needs, such as shelter, food, and
transportation. Therefore, every dollar in food stamps that a low-income family receives enables the
family to spend an additional dollar on food or other items.
USDA research has found that $1 in food stamps generates $1.84 in total economic activity. Mark Zandi
of Moody?s Economy.com estimates a similar multiplier ($1.73 for every additional $1 in food stamp
expenditures), the highest of the various spending and tax measures he evaluated."

$1.84 or $1.74 are the stimulus figures given for every dollar spent, what number do you give it?

This is the futility of having an economic debate where none of us are experts. Sure, debate about whether or not it's fair to give food stamps to low-lifes but let's leave the economics out of it (or at least back it up with a source and not one sentence statements).

Thank you Thraxle baby for submitting that rant I (!) prepared after the night of my (I mean John's) defeat.

I actually wanted you to post that stuff after Obama having been in office for 100 days, but I understand that you couldn't wait to unleash your frustration.
Anyway, it had to be posted some time!

and now be an obedient right-winger and kiss my feet till the red nail polish in gone!

Man I wanted you for my Vice President. Wet dreams and politics never go together!!!

I know I'm a bit premature with my criticism, but the economy isn't showing any sign of turning around right now. Confidence on Wall Street couldn't be any lower than it is, and if investors don't start to feel more comfortable, we could be in this mess for a very long time.

I'm glad most of you are enjoying the thread. It's good to have a serious discussion on the forum once in a while.

Detenmile, note the emphasis I put on guns. I could not just say guns cause this would throw some of our liberals for a loop. You know those Anti-gun guys. In addition to that, the value of gold has decreased again (Thats why your adorable little commercials, that you like so much, asking for your gold jewelry have began to disappear.) The reason that I say gold at all is for the people who refuse to buy guns. Gold is something that people have accepted as a common form of currency. I am sure their are other things to invest int hat people will ALWAYS buy, but nothing comes to mind at the moment. What I said was an EXAMPLE of what should be done.

Thrax, we will be in this mess for a long time. There is no way around it. It's not like a small accident that just requires a little fixing. This system totally crashed at full speed.

Personally i dont like all those huge packages to boost the economy, it feels like pooring fresh water into a barrel that is obviously leaking (or leeking?). But all major countries kind of agreed to simultaneously throw money into the system to get it going again. This shit is global.

I think the main problem with capitalism is that a single person is allowed to earn billions of dollars. Compared to an average person who has maybe a couple of thousand dollars that is about 1 million times more. Now i ask you all, what justifies this? Did the rich guy work a million times harder? Is he maybe a million times smarter?
I dont know about you, but i think nobody can truly deserve that ammount of money.

WHOA WHOA WHOA, dont be talking shit about renewable fuels
-heres the deal, theres lots of energy source out there, solar/wind/hydrocarbon fuels/nuclear/ethanol/hydroelectric, solar power has a nice feel to it (unleash the power of the sun, etc.) but until we get solar cells that can run on more than at LEAST 15% efficiency (most are at about 5% or lower) solar wont be a widely used energy source.
-im just gonna lump wind and hydroelectric together here bc they basically are the 'greenest' alternatives, one provides electricity using gravity, the other using wind, and as far as an alternative to getting electricity not from a powerplant, this would be the best cost-wise
-ethanol fuels are nice bc you can make it from basically ANY starch if you starve it for oxygen, but it youre looking for something less dangerous to the environment that hydrocarbon fuels, dont look here.
-nuclear power is great, it runs on amazing efficiency, the fuel (once you get it set up) lasts for a long time, and with todays advances in technology, there wont be anything chernobyl-esque happening in the near future, but people cant seem to get that paranoia out of their head, and are afraid of nuclear power for no real reason, overall, this is prolly the best option
-hydrocarbon fuels are the way of the past, but unfortunately, the past is all around us...

Again a one line economic statement without backing it.

The justifaction is that people are freely trading with this person. Nobody is forcing you to buy Windows from Bill Gates.
