Top Player Culture Change

Things have dramatically improved this year for the culture of the top players. The improvement is these players being more interested in playing a good game than favoring their friends to get a higher rank.

However there are still a few top players around that get ahead by favoring each other. I'm surprised they're still able to get away with this. I see it as lame. Most other players do to. Yet they are still able to get away with it.

It's important for the better players to look down on this type of play because I can't monitor every game. Things need to change at the top tables. To players should feel confident in pointing out this cheap style of playing and acting accordingly.

I'd like people to post here if they're interested in helping to change the culture at the top tables. The goal for the culture at the top is to respect a good game and see players who need extra help to win as poorer players.

About the members-only tournament earlier. Let me state my case: I did not profit from Comik's behaviour which you found so lame, and I won the tournament with luck and hard work. It took 2 hours, and in the very end i find out i'm being robbed my winnings of 6500 (!) points because someone else did something unethical. I didn't even get my 500 buy-in back. I am a little upset, understandably.

What are you gonna do Ryan? I've never heard an official word from you about this.

monte & samisu: Let me be a little more clear with what I'm saying. I'm doing quite a bit on my end to curb this poor playing style. You are suggesting that things be added to kdice to fix this. The problem is no longer with kdice. It is with these people. Even if things were anonymous or if there were some written rules these players would look for ways to abuse them to get ahead.

The lame players are the problem. They abuse the dignity that has been built for the game by the good players. The good players need to recognize and act stronger against it. This HAS to be done by good players. Rules and structure aren't enough. It's a cultural change. For the US dudes: It's like there are terrorists living in KDice and everyone is letting them do their thing. Tell them to GTFO.

captainLAGER, You have to take part responsibility that these playing styles exist. Until they are gone you can't really understand the value of your points.

i find parts of this thread kind of disapointing. i bought memership for 2 reasons; to contibute in some way, and to avoid havin to play 20-40 games before i get to 2.5K (2K) where the real fun is for me. there i feel i can test my with, and avoid total random plays. I can predict what my opponents will do in a much better fasion. And that is wy i want to playkdice, to challenge my mind.

on a sidenote, yur answer to lager is TOTOALLY inadiquite. on any respected pokersite either the winnings for all the noncheaters would be unchanged, or EVERYBODY would get their buyin back

You're confusing the value of real money, which has a known value, and points. Here, the value of the points comes from a lot of development work, but mostly from the players. People are disrespecting the value of points and some top players seem to think its part of the game.

I'm glad you want to play good games at the top levels. Thats what the membership is for. However, if you do respect a good game I have to ask for your help in enforcing fair play. This is far preferable to having me step in and reset whole tournaments.

The value of points come from games with fairplay - without fairplay, points are worthless.

Ryan, Lager got a point at least. What gonna happen, when a bigger tourney fails like this way?!

Apropo culture: i think ppl who just flame around, should be banned as well. I especially mean inappropiate language by some people. (example WoW7)

To the main topic: i think i'll read a bit and gonna reply soon to it.

ban those who favour each other. it is the only solution.

ryan i see what you mean, but points an money have an arbiterary value, only mdifference is what they are messured by. here points value comes from trophies, and "respect/fame/feel of accomplishments" cash has another value ofourse.

but however e can agree tht they have value, and not refunding all the "victims" of a failed tourney is really bad policy.

i use the term victims bc ofcourse the cheaters should not be refunded. But all the other players should be. it is simply a matter of trust. noone would want to pay to enter tourney where all their winnings could be taken away becouse someone else cheated, and in such an occurence thir invested value would not be refunded.

on the other hand, i don't think i can't help you i have enough trouble keeping myself honest i try as hard as i can. i even try to get new players to understand the social dynamics of the higher tables.

but on another note making the 2.5K nto a 2K table migth do alot of good for the case, altho i fear it only means that the 5K tables my become much more PGAinfested
