Looks like every time I think I'm finished with changes and things look stable the KDice people find another hole to exploit.
I agree that you shouldn't be able to buy first place (even though that little race paid for the server for last month). The reason it was possible was that it was a bug introduced when kdice moved to its own server and member bonuses were added. I knew about the bug but didn't think it would be used this way. As for bomb being played buy multiple people I can't think of any solution to this. I don't think there's any way to prevent this. Although the leagues idea is probably the best step. That idea is where different leagues of play are introduced that have different play parameters. For example, 16 dice, ELO scores, or a maximum number of games in a day. Its a cool idea but kdice needs probably 10x the population to make it useful. Anyway, just posting to get your thoughts on how last months top 3 should be handled. |

at 4:32 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT I vote for stay as well. It may not be what was intended, but the "loophole" was there all month and not closed, and there was no rule against it.
Making up rules after the fact just seems like a bad idea. |

at 4:33 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Not that my opinion on the matter is all that valuable... but i am certain that i am not alone in my suspicion of some sort of foul play among the high level table players. There seems to be a cabal of regular dicers that serve their own mutual interests with little or no concern for fairness... in fact in one particularly memorable game it took significant irate discussion (for those who know me, there were plenty of creative expletives), with support from a number of people who were just observing, while concurrently getting rather lucky in defense to salvage a near stripping of a well earned first that was turned into 4th in favor of D.G. by a tactically confusing alliance of 3 players who would have been better served fighting each other. not much you can do, i just avoid sitting with certain pairs/triples of players.... the only thing we can do is call them out

at 4:36 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Mike, if 4 players can give the person in 1st, 5th instead, they all win... what you're describing doesn't sound like something that was a BAD idea, it sounds like a GOOD idea by DG

at 4:41 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT Well certainly it benefitted them.... but shielding a single territory to keep a player alive and ganging up on 1st when u would be better served by taking out the 4th place player is in my opinion shady.... and the people watching agreed that i was getting robbed unfairly.... ya so in response just cuz its good for them doesn't make it fair

at 4:50 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT @Vermont, you just hear what you want to hear.
People are falsely accusing bomb of sharing his account in order to gain the #1 rank. But he didn't. Those are my straight facts. I did play with Bomb (the person!). He's a friend. I did help him. Since when can't you play an online game with you friend? Here's the fact: Ben (that's the owner of the account) has played more than 1600 games this month. So what the fuck more do you want? Blame him for having friends play turns for him? Blame him for having a friend discuss strategies? Gimme a fuckin' break. It didn't matter one bit when he had 600 games played, or 1000 games played or 400 games played. Why does it suddenly matter when he gets 1600? You're looking for dirt, but Bomb is clean. |

at 4:54 PM, Thursday May 1, 2008 EDT to be honest, you should stick to whats happened no matter what conclusion, and if it gives the game a bad reptutation, well that's what happens, and you shouldn't shy away from this, it provides a base from which to build on in the future and this place needs some work and i think we all know this. don't erase the past, it shouldn't have been done in the last year and i don't think it should be done now, just make ammends for next time
