at 12:13 PM, Saturday December 22, 2007 EST Dear What's left of the Kdice Community, Just wanted to drop a note and say thanks for all the fun times, good laughs and great conversations. I've had a wonderful time with you all and wish you the best. And to my PGE's, I appreciate the time and energy you put into hating me. I am honored. The time has come that I move on... Since September, I have seen this great game just fall apart. From a major game changed to spiked threads, I will not invest my time in a game that does not respect how important the players of a game are. When I first started this game, I thought Ryan was wise and much like a man in charge, he had a group of passionate people dedicated to this game advising him and helping him take this game to it's fullest potential. I was wrong. If anything, the opposite is true. There is very little done for retention of dedicated players and even less listening to them when they do have a valid point. Dedicated players are influencers, your best marketers. Without them, you lose the passion for the game. New players are very important because you have to expect drop-off, but keeping those players who are engaged in the game engaged will create longevity and investment in your game. And by dedicated, I don't mean the top 25, I mean those who are passionate about the game. We all know the RND drama and while I disagreed with most of his style, he was a very important part to this game. Every good story needs a protagonist and an antagonist... with RND, the story of KDICE was complete and exciting. Now, Ryan has slipped into the antagonist role... a dangerous spot for any leader. I respect the work that Ryan does and the amount of time he puts into this game. I truly believe he is doing the best he can with what skills he has. But that is just it. He has not realized yet that he can't be it all. This is a hard lesson to learn... one that I think takes many years to fully realize and one that I hope Ryan comes to understand. Bringing people together and listening to your players will take this game where you want to go. Get someone to help you who isn't a programmer... one that understands how to listen, relate, and reply. I've built many successful brands in my short lifetime and I have seen the problem with Kdice before and will see it again. It's quite common. You're not the answer to the problems of this game, you're are the problem. Once you get that, things will be better. So my final advice... stop being the Brittany Spears of the Video game world, realize what you have, get some help and achieve the full potential of this game. To the players, keep speaking out and creating a dialogue that furthers this game. Speak your opinions and play by your word. Take care of your stacks, DG And for anyone that wants to chat...
