sexual harrassment on kdice.

it may seem amazing or whatever, but i'm female and enjoy playing kdice. however along with other female players, i receive a lot of unwanted attention and abuse from having a picture of myself, not slutty, not erotic, just a picture of my face, as my icon.

i'm not overreacting here, trust me. i don't mind being told i look attractive. it's a compliment, right? too many in a day and it gets repetitive but, even so, it's no reason to complain.

what i'm talking about here is moments like this, from maybe ten minutes ago.

weedeater: i blow a loud all over the chich in the pick teal
eramus: a loud?
weedeater: load
eramus: hrmm
weedeater: lol
weedeater: got excited
weedeater: lol
Sophalis: oh dear god.
Sophalis: seriously. get a girlfriend or something
weedeater: why
weedeater: i can rub one out
weedeater: looking at you

yea.. i'm really fed up of guys thinking they can say things like that to me and other girls on here and get away with it. i'm not amazingly feminist but behaviour like that is disgusting and inappropriate. this is a dice game, not an internet chat room, and women should be able to play on here without sexual harrassment like the example i just quoted.

i'd like to hear some opinions... thanks.

This is the internet. If you've been around here long enough you'd know that there is no way to screen the ignorant guys that come up. I agree with captainLAGER. Change your avatar and the problem will cease to exist. I had the same problem when I put my picture up and people would call me names like "hot suff, babe train, sugar bottom, clam chowder" I changed it and now everyone just refers to me as Dis. Problem solved. =)

Personally, i think women should leave their own picure as avatar if they wanted too. I find is nice to be able to link a face with a chat or a player.

Just giving the advise to change it and the problem will go away is in part true but (on the short term) it is not the right way to solve it. I don't want to go into politics at all here but it sounds a bit like the reasoning why muslim women are asked to cover there body. Men will get too excited and have the right to be unfaithfull if you don't cover yourself. It is fairly easy to pick the guilty sex there no?

Now, for all the lovely ladies out there, don't worry if i said you looked nice, I am happily married and it was just a friendly comment

Seriously, do you have a proposed solution for your problem here? You say...

"i'm really fed up of guys thinking they can say things like that to me and other girls on here and get away with it."

This is a "fact on the ground" that kdice is not policed by moderators who can ban/punish people that do things that they may find offensive. Like others have already stated, this is the internet, get used to it. If you present yourself as something (whether it be a race, color or gender), you had better be ready to deal with any shallow minded persons opinion of such specification.

If your intention of this post was to report a specific incident, then you have already achieved that. If your goal is to solve the general problem of harassment in a non-policed environment, I'd recommend offering a potential solution.

Wise words from a young mouth, Cambria ^^ (kidding)
Well Sophalis, sorry to hear about this issue, but it happens and I find the best solution is to be just as vulgar back, more than half the time it grosses them out (ask Montecarlo and DiceyGirl aka "gutter c*nt). If you refuse to lower yourself to their level, that is understandable and respectable.
Anyhoo,
Only posted so Zosod would add me to his list ;)

yea, i was going to write it in my initial post, but i obviously forgot.
in many forums and sites i've visited they have a report page, like a 'send message' page to the owners or moderators, where you can enter the offending user's name, offense, time of offense etc, and a screenshot of whatever you're reporting. the moderator or whoever's in charge could then choose whether or not to punish the person who's being reported, etc.

obviously i don't know if that kind of thing would be easy to set up here, but it would be pretty useful to have.

Not too sure why none of this offends me....

If anything I find it actually pretty funny. You should hear some of the stuff I've been called, but I've also heard guys get called some pretty bad stuff as well.

It's just obvious to attack me based on me being a girl as it's what seperates me from almost all the other players playing the game. Just goes with the territory, have fun with it.

zos....you don't think my smile is hot? =) I deserve top 5 recognition!

Zos,

You need to add stacy to your list.
