As we wrap up the first quarter of kdice competition under the current scoring rules, I want to give recognition to kdice players of superior skill, especially those who are more recent arrivals to the game. At the end of May I will make a listing of TAPL scorers in three catagories:
1. Top TAPL scorers among players who began playing kdice in May. 2. Top TAPL scorers among players who have been playing kdice since April. 3. Top TAPL scorers among players who have been playing kdice since the scoring change and reset of the Elo's in February. The TAPL is explained in the comment at my profile page. The TAPL and this competition have no official endorsement from Ryan. To qualify for the competition, you must have played at least 35 games. To enter the competition, make a post to this thread. I will reply with a computation of your current lifetime TAPL. At the end of the month I will work up the lifetime TAPL's for all the contests and award certificates. I don't have fancy graphics capabilities like Ryan has for the trophies, but I will issue a certificate that looks like this: 5684 ∫ 1st.∫∫∫ A 3-month TAPL in the 5000's is likely to have a good finish, a 2-month TAPL in the 2000's is a good score, and a 1-month TAPL in the 1000's means you have a good shot for the top spot. |

at 8:25 PM, Wednesday May 23, 2007 EDT Guys:
I figured out how to load the spreadsheet code into this forum. What you see below is a long column. Follow these steps: 1. Copy the whole column and paste it into a blank spreadsheet. What you have will be a functional TAPL calculator but not very useful because it is in columns instead of rows. 2. Copy what you have just pasted in the spreadsheet and paste it to a blank area of the spreadsheet, but use Paste Special and in the bottom of the dialog box check the little square that says Transpose. You should now have a long row that is the transpose of the original column. 3. Everything up to and including the first xx is the first row of the TAPL calculator. Leave these undisturbed. Everything beyond the first xx and up to and including the second xx is the second row. Move this under the first row using the Cut command and then Paste. 4. Do the same thing with the third row (including the next xx) and cut it and paste under the second row. Continue with the fourth row, etc. You now have your TAPL calculator. To use it, copy your profile from your profile page and paste it into the spreadsheet, using Paste Special....Text. You no longer need the vertical column and you can delete it. Let me know if it works. at 8:33 PM, Wednesday May 23, 2007 EDT A correction to my post on the code. The little xx's didn't come out right. The last (or only) x in a group of x's is the xx.
