The sandbox has tested a new way to adjust ratings with the goal of making kdice a better game. The results have been mostly positive. The changes mean that strategies that worked in the other version may not work with the new version. You may have played hundreds of games a certain way and it may be difficult to adjust. But our goal is to make an all round better game experience. So keep an open mind and try pick up the strategy. So far it seems to be closer in game play to the original to Dice Wars.

Rating Adjustment 1: This is the same as the old adjustment. You get more points for placing higher relative to your opponents rating. It isn't valued as much however since there is a second adjustment.

Rating Adjustment 2: This adjustment ranks you against other players based on your average territory count at the beginning of each turn. When you are knocked out your rank is calculated and an adjustement is made.

"""if you don't like it, then don't play (or create your own)."""

Well thats a VERY counter productive attitude. At least people like SandyBell have the right to sound their oppinion. And that was she does. A response like this does not add anything usefull!

As Ryan said, suppose 25 people join under this system, and are then confronted to the old system. Would they like the old more? I doubt it!

Then run me a study and find out. We'll need to get a grant from the Canadian government, we'll set up a few control goroups, monitor the pleasure centers of the brain with a few electrodes....

everyone here is voicing their personal opinion and why can't i? if you don't think it's productive, ignore it.

i seem to recall a post about the 'know it alls'. may be we should take a look at that post again.

"I'm really tired of hearing this and explaining why it is the opposite. Basically, this is true if you view sitting on 2 territories and making truces to get 2nd strategy."

And the reason it's not? As you said, it's shifting the focus back to domination. Back towards one strategy. If there's fewer variations in strategy, it necessarily becomes less of a factor.

Tech:
I don't think you can claim there are fewer variations in strategy. There is just less emphasis on what became the prominent strategy of hiding and surviving. This strategy did not align with the goal of the game and was a side effect of the old scoring system awarding points for 2nd and 3rd. You can still use this strategy and sometimes its your best option, but you will probably not get the 2nd or 3rd highest point adjustment.

there is a difference between expressing your opinion, and telling others to shut up :-(

Do you mean this. By "know-it-alls"?
"Who agrees that the game is becoming overpopulated with 'know it alls' That is, people who think because they have been playing it a while, others with less experience have a lesser right to enjoy the place....cliques and clans....this game can do without it, thank you."

I hardly seem then telling people to shut up, increases their right to enjoy this place.

I just dont like people telling others the old "take it or leave it" thing. Which is infact a disguised "shut up".

Express your opinions about the system, yes. But let others do as well please.
