Dottir takes 2011 yearly TAZD.
Posted By: skrumgaer at 6:09 PM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST
To qualify for the yearly TAZD competition, you must have played an average of 60 regular games per month, or to finish, 720 games.

The zero datum used was

07.2, 07.9, 10.2, 14.0, 17.5, 20.3, 22.9.

I have child-proofed the yearly TAZD, but I will not say in what way I have done it. The childproofing did not have to kick in in 2011.

***Special note: Actually the childproofing did kick in for Xar in the November standings, not because of any action of his, but by my compiling his January 2011 seventh place percentage as 14 instead of 14%. That happens if you don't include the final % sign when you capture the data with the mouse. Note that his final percentages added to 129%. Xar's corrected November standings should have been

0865 15% 19% 17% 14% 12% 11% 07% 13457 Xar

Here are the complete final standings:

What is it?

TAZD=Test Against Zero Datum. If you check out Skrums wall you'll be able to get more details.

It's essentially a true test of a players skill

Winning on 500 tables vs noobs is easier than winning on 2k tables, so it's not a true skill test imo.

There is a quality-of-opponent adjustment that can be made if you are willing to keep track of how many tables of each level you play on. Also, if Ryan were to supply data on total buy-in **cough** for each player, a guts per game statistic could be computed.

Chain, playing against all the pga's that exist at the 2K tables doesn't represent a true test of "individual" skill either.

Playing against a random set of players at tables below the 2K mark would be more empirical

thats like saying a higher win rate on $0.01/$0.02 tables would be more impressive than a lower win rate on $100/$200 tables, grand. the stiffer the competition the more impressive a win rate becomes.

Not really monte. The edge a cheating player gains at kdice I would think far outweighs collusion at the poker table.

At the poker table, a mark can get up and leave anytime. At the kdice table, a mark is stuck while the pga players at higher tables guarantee themselves top finishes

Also, while you generally find better players as you go up in limits playing poker, the buyin does not guarantee you're up against more skilled opponents, you may just be up against more financially well-off opponents.

In the end, whether it's kdice or poker, my goal is to win as much as possible, and that's best achieved in both cases by avoiding the toughest competition. Although I do encounter plenty lvl 50+ players while below the 2K tables

so because i can beat the top tables, that means i am a pga cheater? is that a formal accusation?

Do you claim to have zero friends at the top tables and you never softplay or get softplayed?
