Here are Fatman_x's final stats:

1631 22% 16% 13% 12% 10% 11% 11% 22535 Fatman_x

Olkainry38 did not play any additional games after Dec 21.

Here were the two leaders on Dec 21:

1591 22% 16% 13% 13% 10% 11% 11% 21975 Fatman_x
0894 22% 20% 16% 13% 11% 08% 07% 21798 olkainry38

The November scores are below. They were recomputed when I found I had been using the 2009 datum instead of the 2010 datum.

The Test Against Zero Datum (TAZD) is a weighted sum of the squares of the differences between a player's percentage profile and the profile of a typical player with a zero score, adjusted according to the square root of the number of games played. If you would like to enter the cumulative TAZD competition for 2010, reply to this thread in the account that you want to enter.

In 2010, the cumulative TAZD began in April, because some January, February, and March profiles had corrupted percentages.

A minimum of sixty regular games per month was required.

Entries show number of games, percentages, and player name.

A minimum of 540 regular games played was required to remain in the standings as of December 31.

Here are the end of November standings with the new datum.

Those aren't games, they are things that can happen within the game of kdice.

"Things that can happen in the game of kdice" also include strategies such as noamlang's quick flagouts to move on to a new game. You indicated that the TAZD was "flawed" in picking up the effects of this strategy. In fact, the TAZD wasn't flawed, the datum was. I didn't discover I was using the 2009 datum in the yearly TAZD (as opposed to the 2010 datum) in the monthly TAZD until December. Noam didn't do as well under the correct datum, but the TAZD still picked up the effects of his strategy.

People will continue in a new strategy if it "works". If it does, more people using that strategy will show up in the zero datum (because of bad luck), and the datum can be adjusted against the new strategy. If the new strategy doesn't "work", people will abandon it and its effect on the TAZD will fade.

We indicated that it's extremely easy to own everyone else's tazd by flagging out every game.

I didn't read this whole post, but I wanted to chime in here after being requested to review the last bit here.

I think the problem lies with the fact that Vermnot and skrum are really looking at different aspects of their argument.

I also believe that they are running into the issue that they are looking for different things here. The key lies in the two of them discussing what TAZD "means" in terms of gamesmanship and skill. I think that would help resolve this issue.

The problem, CD, is that skrum insists that flagging out without playing (or sitting and lagging out) constitutes game skills and should be rewarded in the TAZD, and uses that argument to defend that the TAZD is a measure of skill.

And I think he knows that he has a poor argument, so he attempts to redefine skill rather than address the actual issue.

Vermont knows that his own argument has been turned against him, since he admits that there are "things that can happen in kdice" and noamlang is one of those things.

Skrum, Vermont said there are things that can happen in kdice to point out that those things are not really part of the game. This is no longer about noamlang1. Roll offs are part of kdice. vflags are part of kdice. They don't constitute games on their own. That's like saying a 'war' in the card game War is a game game than War, or that "field goal" is a different game than "football."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearson's_chi-square_test

"It [Pearson's chi-square test] tests a null hypothesis stating that the frequency distribution of certain events observed in a sample is consistent with a particular theoretical distribution."

By this (and every) definition of a chi-square test, they're just comparisons of data. No one here is saying the TAZD completely sucks, merely that it is flawed. I think we can all agree that the TAZD is an attempt to measure skill via percentage profile (even if skrum believes it is more than an attempt), and it does make a good effort. Very similarly, the ASR is an attempt to measure skill via game points and percentage profile. I think the ASR makes a very good effort at this, but it isn't perfect either.
