I am the smallest animals in the Tundra.
I have a thick gray or brown fur that turns during the winter season. This is used as a protective mechanism helping me to camouflage with the snow.
My short legs, feet, tail and ears help me to keep the heat in.
I have very sharp teeth that enable me to gnaw through tangles of roots, moss and also soil.
I very frequently become the prey of owls, foxes, hawks, wolves and gyrfalcon.
A typical fact about me is that my feet grow bigger during the winters and get smaller during the summers. |
