DED on Sunday March 20, 2011 It is not about capitalism. It is about human nature. Capitalism just works as a system because it is as close an approximate as we have so far managed. The same tenants can be generally applied to all sorts of human social organizations and situations. That is why competition leads to improvement; why monopolies over force lead to inefficient allocation of public resources; why the private sector tends to outperform. I tend to agree with you in that I am somewhat anarchist myself. The only issue here being, well, Tragedy of the Commons teaches us that we need to define rights to reach the most efficient outcomes. And that means poor and disadvantaged need to try, too. Human nature, for good or bad, is what we are stuck with. It took us over 10,000 years to develop our reasoning systems; it will take a lot more than a revolution to change that. Namely, an overwhelmingly large span of time.
