This guy was guaranteed to get 2nd after letting 1st and 3rd finish their battle, but rather than wait an extra few rounds, (s)he opts to attack the weaker of the two before they can finish their fight.
No reason to do that, since you were guaranteed 2nd anyway, except to be an asshole.
