ok I got intrigued and looked it up...seems my "east germany" interpretation of your nick turns out to have been the slightly better of two rather bad alternatives. wikipedia says: "Following the de-facto annexation of Austria in 1938, Germany informally named itself the Greater German Reich (German: Großdeutsches Reich). This name was made the official state name only during the last two years (1943 to 45) of Nazi rule." and: the name for germany before WW I 1871 to 1918 was Deutsches Kaiserreich which simply translates as "German Empire" no?
